Under the patronage of H.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Crown Prince of Ras Al Khaimah, the Ras Al Khaimah Economic Zone (RAKEZ) has forged a partnership with Emerge, a joint venture between Masdar and EDF Power Solutions. This collaboration was formalized through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) during the Ras Al Khaimah Investment Summit (RAKIS), emphasizing the advancement of renewable energy and clean technology integration across the emirate's industrial sectors.
The initiative aims to speed up the implementation of sustainable practices in RAKEZ, particularly focusing on solar energy production, energy storage solutions, and hybrid energy technologies. These projects are in line with the UAE's national clean energy ambitions and Ras Al Khaimah's Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy Strategy 2040 to foster a more sustainable and resilient economy.
Yaser Abdullah Al Ahmed, Chief Government & Corporate Relations Officer at RAKEZ, along with Michel Abi Saab, General Manager of Emerge, signed the MoU, which was witnessed by Luc Koechlin, CEO of EDF Power Solutions Middle East, and Ali Alshimmari, Board Director for Emerge. This partnership signifies a strong shared commitment to sustainable development and innovation within the industrial space.
Ramy Jallad, CEO of RAKEZ, stated that this collaboration underscores the organization's efforts to embed clean energy strategies within its industrial framework. The partnership aims to help clients pursue growth while reducing ecological footprints, ultimately bolstering the efficiency and sustainability of the business community.
Michel Abi Saab reiterates Emerge's dedication to providing impactful and accessible clean energy options. He stressed that this collaboration would create a more efficient and environmentally friendly industrial landscape, steering economic growth while aligning with the UAE’s sustainability objectives.
This agreement plays a crucial role in Ras Al Khaimah's overarching goal of nurturing a greener economy through innovative practices. RAKEZ remains resolute in promoting initiatives that align with sustainability targets, fostering collaborations that empower the industrial and business sectors to adopt renewable energy solutions and improve operational performance.
In collaboration with Emerge, RAKEZ intends to explore, design, and execute various renewable energy projects within the economic zone. This partnership leverages solar energy, energy storage technologies, and hybrid systems, aiming to establish Ras Al Khaimah as a leading hub for clean energy technologies in the region. These efforts are set to deliver sustainable energy alternatives to businesses, reduce emissions, and create a more resilient industrial ecosystem.
The signing of the MoU between RAKEZ and Emerge represents a pivotal move in fostering renewable energy initiatives in Ras Al Khaimah. By leveraging expertise, innovation, and a strategic outlook, this collaboration supports the emirate’s economic and environmental roadmap, encouraging sustainable practices while enabling responsible business growth.
