HH Sayyid Theyazin bin Haitham Al Said, Oman’s Minister of Culture, Sports and Youth, arrived in Cairo on Friday evening to lead the Sultanate’s delegation at the inauguration ceremony of the Grand Egyptian Museum. The highly anticipated event, scheduled for Saturday, represents one of Egypt’s most significant cultural milestones and a symbol of Arab heritage and cooperation.
Upon arrival at the presidential lounge of Cairo International Airport, Sayyid Theyazin and his accompanying delegation were warmly received by Counselor Mahmoud Fawzy, Egypt’s Minister of Parliamentary and Legal Affairs and Political Communication. Also present were Abdullah bin Nasser Al Rahbi, Oman’s Ambassador to Egypt and Permanent Representative to the Arab League, along with several senior Egyptian officials and members of the Omani Embassy. The cordial reception reflected the strong and friendly ties between Oman and Egypt.
The visit underscores Oman’s commitment to strengthening cultural and diplomatic cooperation with Egypt. By leading the delegation to this grand event, Sayyid Theyazin highlights Oman’s recognition of Egypt’s deep historical and cultural influence in the Arab world. The Grand Egyptian Museum’s inauguration is seen as a celebration of shared Arab heritage and an opportunity for nations to reaffirm their collaboration in preserving cultural identity.
The Grand Egyptian Museum, located near the Giza Pyramids, is one of the world’s largest and most advanced archaeological museums. It houses thousands of ancient Egyptian artifacts, including the full collection of King Tutankhamun’s treasures. The museum aims to promote cultural understanding and preserve Egypt’s historical legacy while serving as a hub for global tourism and education.
Oman’s participation in the event highlights its ongoing efforts to promote cultural diplomacy and cross-border cooperation in arts and heritage. The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth has been working to build stronger partnerships with regional cultural institutions, supporting joint exhibitions, academic exchanges, and heritage preservation programs. Sayyid Theyazin’s presence at the museum’s opening further reflects Oman’s role as an active supporter of cultural development across the Arab world.
The visit also represents an important step in enhancing bilateral relations between Oman and Egypt. The two countries share longstanding ties rooted in mutual respect, shared history, and common goals for regional stability and progress. Both nations regularly collaborate in areas such as education, trade, tourism, and cultural exchange. Oman’s participation in Egypt’s major cultural celebration demonstrates the depth of trust and cooperation between the two governments.
Oman’s Ambassador to Egypt, Abdullah bin Nasser Al Rahbi, expressed pride in Oman’s involvement in this historic moment. He noted that Oman’s attendance reflects its continuous support for Arab initiatives that promote unity through culture and history. He emphasized that events like the Grand Egyptian Museum’s opening strengthen regional cooperation and highlight the importance of preserving heritage for future generations.
Cultural diplomacy remains a key pillar of Oman’s foreign policy under the leadership of His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik. Through cultural initiatives and international participation, Oman continues to promote peace, dialogue, and understanding among nations. Sayyid Theyazin’s leadership in cultural affairs reinforces the nation’s vision to build bridges of cooperation that go beyond politics and economics, focusing on shared values and mutual respect.
Following the inauguration, Sayyid Theyazin is expected to hold discussions with Egyptian cultural leaders and officials to explore future collaborations in heritage conservation, museum management, and artistic exchange programs. These talks aim to expand cooperation in cultural tourism and creative industries, enhancing both nations’ contributions to global culture.
HH Sayyid Theyazin bin Haitham Al Said’s visit to Cairo for the Grand Egyptian Museum inauguration marks another milestone in Oman-Egypt relations. His presence underscores Oman’s active role in promoting cultural ties and supporting Arab unity through heritage and shared identity.
