Dubai celebrated a landmark moment in healthcare philanthropy as His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum honoured donors supporting the Hamdan Bin Rashid Cancer Hospital. The event, organised by Al Jalila Foundation, took place at the hospital site in Dubai Healthcare City Phase 2, highlighting the emirate’s commitment to world-class cancer care.
Recognition of Supporters
Fifty-five individuals, charitable organisations, and corporate entities received recognition for their contributions. These donations are critical for building Dubai’s first fully integrated cancer facility, which aims to combine medical treatment with research and community support.
Hospital Facilities and Design
The hospital, covering 59,000 square metres, will feature 53 clinics, 21 clinical research areas, 60 infusion rooms, 10 urgent care rooms, 5 radiotherapy rooms, and 116 inpatient beds. Nineteen gardens will provide a serene environment for patients, integrating care with overall well-being.

His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum reflected on the UAE’s philanthropic tradition, stressing that giving drives societal growth. He praised the donors for supporting a facility that embodies social responsibility and strengthens partnerships within the healthcare sector.
Honouring Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum
The hospital honours the late Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum, whose lifelong humanitarian efforts inspired its creation. Beyond medical treatment, it will serve as a hub for research and learning, promoting innovative approaches to cancer care that align with international standards.

Situated in Dubai Healthcare City Phase 2, the hospital will not only provide treatment but also offer hope and comfort to patients and their families. Its fully integrated model ensures a holistic patient experience by combining advanced medical care with supportive services.
