UAE Forum Highlights Media as Partner in Good Governance

Post by : Mariam Al-Faris

H.H. Sheikh Ammar bin Humaid Al Nuaimi, Crown Prince of Ajman, Chairman of the Ajman Executive Council, and Chairman of the Ajman Excellence Programme, attended a special session led by Abdulla bin Mohammed bin Butti Al Hamed, Chairman of the UAE National Media Office and UAE Media Council. The session took place as part of the 2025 edition of the Government Practices Forum, which aims to promote innovation and excellence in government performance.

At the beginning of the session, Abdulla Al Hamed expressed his gratitude to Sheikh Ammar for sponsoring the programme. He said this initiative reflects the UAE leadership’s commitment to advancing government excellence and creating innovative solutions that improve people’s lives. The forum also served as a platform to discuss how government institutions can enhance their impact by aligning performance with public trust.

During his address, Abdulla Al Hamed highlighted how media plays a key role as a partner in government excellence. He explained that media helps communicate achievements, showcase the human side of policies, and build stronger trust between the government and the people. He said that by sharing real success stories and visible impacts, media can transform how citizens understand and engage with public institutions.

Al Hamed pointed out that the UAE has built a modern national media sector that balances credibility, creativity, and human connection. He noted that the UAE’s media reflects the nation’s values by putting people at the heart of its mission. Instead of only presenting government announcements, the media in the UAE shows how policies and projects improve everyday life and promote community engagement.

He emphasized that in today’s fast-changing world, the true measure of government success is not just data or numbers but the ability to create positive and meaningful change in people’s lives. Al Hamed said that governance should inspire hope and progress by turning public service into a human experience, transforming performance into a message, and using communication as an honest dialogue with society.

Abdulla Al Hamed described the UAE as “a government that inspires” through its balanced performance, open communication, and national unity. He said true leadership goes beyond administrative work — it is about human commitment that turns policies into real improvements people can see and feel. He also said that good governance involves compassion, transparency, and dedication to public happiness.

Al Hamed highlighted that innovation lies at the heart of the UAE’s national identity and is a key element of its success. He explained that innovation allows the UAE to transform challenges into opportunities and practical solutions. By doing so, the government continues to enhance the daily experiences of citizens and residents, ensuring that progress benefits everyone.

He also noted that media does not simply reflect what the government does — it serves as a vital channel that builds public confidence and optimism. According to him, strong institutional media anticipates changes, highlights success stories, and supports long-term strategies by sharing knowledge and best practices across sectors.

Al Hamed stated that national media reflects the spirit of collaboration across institutions. By highlighting partnerships and joint projects between various government entities, media helps show that progress in the UAE is a collective effort. He added that effective media inspires public participation, promotes innovation, and supports the vision of shared development.

Al Hamed said that the true measure of government success lies not in statistics but in the happiness and satisfaction of its people. He emphasized that leadership is about creating a real difference in citizens’ and residents’ lives through every new initiative and project. He added that innovation in governance means striving for meaningful outcomes — those that can be seen, felt, and experienced in everyday life.
