Beloved actress Shraddha Kapoor, known for her diverse roles in Bollywood, has been away from the limelight since her last film, Stree 2 (2024). Excitement surged amongst fans when news broke that she had commenced shooting for Laxman Utekar’s highly awaited film Eetha this month. However, recent reports indicate the filming has been temporarily halted after Shraddha suffered a toe fracture during a dance number.
The incident transpired while she was showcasing Lavani, a lively traditional dance of Maharashtra distinguished by its rhythmic beats and dynamic movements. Sources indicate that the sequence, crafted by the duo Ajay-Atul, incorporated swift choreography, requiring Shraddha to perform intricate steps in a colorful Nauvari saree adorned with heavy jewelry. To authentically portray the esteemed Tamasha artist Vithabai Bhau Mang Narayangaonkar, Shraddha gained an impressive 15 kilograms for this role. Unfortunately, during one movement, she inadvertently placed full weight on her left foot, causing her to lose balance and fracture her toe.
Director Laxman Utekar swiftly suspended shooting to ensure Shraddha’s well-being. Demonstrating her commitment to the project, Shraddha proposed a revised shooting schedule focusing on emotional close-ups that allowed her to minimize movement. The crew shifted to Madh Island, where they managed to film several sequences. However, after a couple of days, her discomfort intensified, leading to an outright production pause. The team aims to resume shooting in about two weeks once Shraddha has adequately healed.
Eetha promises to be a captivating biopic depicting the extraordinary life of Vithabai Bhau Mang Narayangaonkar, a legendary dancer and Tamasha performer who significantly influenced Maharashtra’s artistic heritage. The film aspires to illuminate her challenges, accomplishments, and her vital role in traditional folk theatre.
Fans are ardently hoping for Shraddha Kapoor’s swift return to cinema and extending their heartfelt wishes for her recovery. Her unwavering dedication to her craft, even amidst physical adversity, has heightened excitement for Eetha and her portrayal of the iconic Vithabai.
