Space42 and A2Z Partner for Level-4 Autonomous Mobility

Post by : Mariam Al-Faris

Space42 and Autonomous A2Z, a leading Korean autonomous driving company, have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to establish a joint venture based in Abu Dhabi.

The collaboration aims to deploy and commercialise Level-4 autonomous-driving solutions across the Middle East and Africa, marking a major step toward localising advanced autonomous technology.

Announcement at GITEX Global 2025

The partnership was officially announced at GITEX Global 2025, underlining the UAE’s commitment to intelligent transport and smart mobility innovation.

The joint venture is expected to create a sustainable autonomous ecosystem, supporting cities, businesses, and national transport infrastructure.

Leadership Statements on Collaboration

Hasan Al Hosani, CEO of Smart Solutions at Space42, emphasized the importance of cross-market collaboration for knowledge sharing and technological advancement.

He highlighted that the partnership will help the UAE realize its ambitions in autonomous mobility and strengthen local innovation and sovereign capability.

Jihyeong Han, CEO of Autonomous A2Z, noted that the company aims to extend its proven Level-4 technology to the Middle East, supporting the UAE’s national smart mobility vision and enhancing sustainable transportation.

Building a National Ecosystem

The joint venture will anchor a national ecosystem for autonomous mobility, focusing on innovation, development, and commercialisation.

Through intelligent fleet integration and skilled workforce development, the initiative aims to improve efficiency, safety, and sustainability in urban transport systems.

Contributing to UAE’s Smart-Mobility Goals

The collaboration supports the Smart Autonomous Systems Council’s mission and contributes to the UAE’s vision of a resilient, innovation-driven economy.

The venture will accelerate progress from pilot programs to fully operational, scalable autonomous mobility technology, benefiting both cities and businesses.

Previous Partnerships and Technological Leadership

The joint venture builds on a previous partnership between Space42 and A2Z, enhancing Space42’s wider investments in smart-mobility infrastructure.

Space42 recently launched the Sovereign Mobility Cloud, which provides AI-enabled mapping, fleet operations, and traffic management. The company also partnered with Dynamic Map Platform and General Motors to advance autonomous-driving systems.

Autonomous Driving Milestones in the UAE

Since 2021, Space42’s TXAI robotaxi service has logged nearly 600,000 km of autonomous driving and completed 20,000 passenger trips without incidents.

The fleet now operates across Saadiyat, Yas, Al Maryah, and Al Reem Islands, as well as Zayed International Airport, demonstrating the practical readiness of Level-4 autonomous technology in real-world conditions.

The Space42-A2Z joint venture represents a strategic leap forward for autonomous transport in the UAE and region.

By combining local expertise with global technology, the partnership sets the stage for safer, more efficient, and sustainable urban mobility, strengthening the UAE’s position as a leader in smart and autonomous transport innovation.
