Post by : Bianca Haleem

Tenneco Clean Air India marked a notable debut on the stock market on Wednesday, November 19, with its shares launching at a substantial premium over the initial public offering (IPO) price. This strong opening underscored the high demand observed during the subscription phase.

The stock started trading at ₹505 on the NSE, reflecting a 27.20% increase from the IPO price set at ₹397. Although it experienced slight fluctuations, it concluded the day at ₹490, remaining well above the issue price. On the BSE, shares commenced at ₹498, indicating a 25.44% rise at the start.

This listing provided immediate benefits for retail investors. With a lot size of 37 shares, those who secured allotments enjoyed a listing gain of ₹18,685 per lot.

The IPO offered 9.07 crore shares and raised ₹3,600 crore, with no new share issuance, ensuring that the total proceeds were directed to the selling promoter, Tenneco Mauritius Holdings Ltd. As indicated in its Red Herring Prospectus (RHP), the market listing is expected to enhance visibility and liquidity for its shares in the Indian market.

There was considerable demand for the IPO, which closed with an impressive 58.83 times subscription.

  • Qualified institutional buyers (QIBs) led with an enormous 166.42 times subscription.

  • Non-institutional investors subscribed 40.74 times.

  • Retail investors contributed a 5.11 times subscription rate.

Prior to the IPO, Tenneco Clean Air India secured ₹1,079.99 crore from anchor investors, which included prominent domestic and international names such as SBI MF, ICICI Prudential MF, HDFC MF, SBI Life Insurance, BlackRock, Nomura, ADIA, and Goldman Sachs.

Tenneco Clean Air India specializes in high-precision, technology-driven solutions such as exhaust aftertreatment systems, catalytic converters, mufflers, shock absorbers, and struts. The company enjoys the backing of established promoters like Tenneco (Mauritius) Ltd, Tenneco LLC, Federal-Mogul Investments BV, and Federal-Mogul Pty Ltd.

With a robust debut coupled with substantial institutional interest, the stock confidently enters the public marketplace, supported by solid fundamentals and relevance within the sector.
