For women navigating their thirties, balancing careers, families, and personal life often leaves little room for health prioritization. Fitness expert Siddhartha Singh, who coaches actress Tamannaah Bhatia, has recently shed light on three crucial supplements women in this demographic should consider.
In a recent Instagram post on November 24, Singh stressed that supplements should be personalized, emphasizing the importance of recognizing individual health needs. He recommends three key supplements for women in their thirties: vitamin D, omega-3 fatty acids, and iron.
1. Vitamin D: A Boost for Immunity
Vitamin D plays a significant role in bolstering the immune system. Singh pointed out that many adults fall short on sunlight exposure due to long hours indoors or in vehicles. “Vitamin D is essential, especially for immunity,” he noted. “I recommend it because many of us are not getting enough sunlight. Supplementing can not only enhance your immune response but also benefit bone health as you age.”
2. Omega-3: Combatting Inflammation
The second supplement he advocates for is omega-3 fatty acids, especially for those who do not eat fish at least twice a week. Omega-3 is vital for controlling inflammation, linked to heart health and overall well-being. Singh stated, “If you're not consuming fish regularly, particularly if you're vegetarian, omega-3 supplementation is highly advisable. There are also plant-based options for omega-3, such as flaxseed, chia seeds, and walnuts.”
3. Iron: Vital for Energy and Blood Health
Lastly, Singh identifies iron as the most critical supplement for women in their thirties. Due to monthly menstrual cycles, women often lose significant iron, making it essential for energy levels and overall health. However, he emphasizes that iron supplementation must be approached cautiously, advising a consultation with a physician following a blood test. “Iron is crucial, particularly since you lose it monthly. Always consult your doctor before starting supplementation to ensure you're taking the right amount,” he said.
A Holistic View
Singh’s recommendations highlight that supplements should complement a well-rounded diet rather than serve as substitutes. Adequate nutrition from whole foods, regular physical activity, and proper rest are essential components of maintaining good health.
