An impressive student art exhibition held at the State Academy of Arts of Turkmenistan in Ashgabat celebrated the inventive spirit of the next generation of artists. Featuring over 100 remarkable pieces from five skilled students in painting and sculpture, the event drew considerable interest.
Several artworks from the exhibition have been incorporated into the Academy’s esteemed Golden Collection, showcasing the remarkable artistic ability of these budding talents. The event not only emphasized technical mastery but highlighted the cultural essence and emotional resonance within contemporary Turkmen art.
Among the standout pieces was a sculpture by student Serdar Jumayev, depicting Atajan Berdiyev, a renowned vocalist and People's Artist of Turkmenistan. Another piece illustrated Jumayev's instructor, the noted sculptor Babasary Annamyradov, holding a large apple, a symbol emblematic of the artist's identity. This sculpture, created entirely from memory, left visitors and the teacher astounded.
The exhibition also showcased a grand painting titled “Music of Peace, Music of Friendship” by Jumamurat Gurbanov, illustrating a vibrant celebration in the contemporary city of Arkadag, becoming one of the highlights of the event. Gurbanov further impressed attendees with his portrait of teacher Annadurdy Almamedov, noted for its authentic artistic representation.
Young artist Arzuv Atayev revealed several pieces, including the acclaimed painting “Who’s First!” now part of the Academy’s Golden Collection. This painting exemplifies the intense realities of competitive cyclists, showcasing a psychological depth that reflects Atayev's unique strengths.
Another exhibitor, Bayly Aynazarov, garnered attention for his series “Heavenly Horses,” dedicated to the legendary Akhal-Teke horses of Turkmenistan, along with a celebrated portrait of the esteemed poet Magtymguly Fragi, recognized as one of the finest representations of the literary figure.
Sculptor Guljan Shokhratgeldiyeva captivated audiences with her emotional sculptures, particularly those depicting Alabay dogs and children. Her piece “The First Step,” which illustrates a child sheltered by a mother as he ventures into the world, emerged as one of the most cherished works of the exhibition.
Organizers and educators applauded the exhibition as a vital stepping stone for these students as they embark on their artistic careers. Visitors appreciated the showcase for reflecting the rich traditions of Turkmen art while offering a glimpse into the forward-thinking creativity of its youthful artists.
