His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, welcomed Finnish President Alexander Stubb in Abu Dhabi for talks focused on enhancing bilateral ties. President Stubb is currently on a formal visit to the UAE, which commenced at Qasr Al Shati, where warm wishes were exchanged for Finland's continued success.
The dialogue addressed several avenues for cooperation, highlighting the areas of trade, technology, economy, education, and innovation. They also sought to identify collaborative opportunities within the space sector and other advanced domains, aiming for mutual growth and an enduring partnership.
Discussions also included insights on regional and global matters, underscoring the significance of peace and stability. Both leaders underscored their dedication to fostering international dialogue and diplomatic efforts to tackle worldwide challenges.
His Highness expressed a strong desire for deeper ties with Finland, stating hopes that this meeting would pave the way for future opportunities, coinciding with their 50 years of diplomatic relations.
The President noted that the initiation of talks on a free trade agreement and a Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement with the European Union marks a pivotal stride towards boosting economic and trade collaboration with Finland, expected to unlock new business and investment opportunities.
In response, President Stubb expressed gratitude for the warm reception, emphasizing Finland's keen interest in enhancing economic connections with the UAE. He acknowledged the strides both nations have made in strengthening their relationship, committing to a lasting partnership.
The meeting focused on joint initiatives designed to benefit citizens in both countries, as both leaders reiterated their shared goals of fostering sustainable development, economic advancement, and innovation while positively influencing global stability.
Key UAE officials also attended the meeting, which included H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs; H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan; Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad bin Tahnoun Al Nahyan; alongside other government representatives.
Ultimately, the encounter reinforced the thriving friendship between the UAE and Finland, spotlighting their mutual commitment to explore collaboration in crucial sectors for future progress, prosperity, and stability.
