UAE Strengthens Ties with Guatemala Through Parliamentary Talks

Saqr Ghobash, Speaker of the Federal National Council (FNC), received Jorge Rafael Ruiz, Ambassador of Guatemala to the UAE, at the FNC headquarters in Abu Dhabi. The meeting highlighted the growing partnership between the two nations and their shared commitment to advancing bilateral cooperation in multiple sectors.

Focus on Parliamentary Diplomacy

During the discussions, both sides emphasized the role of parliamentary diplomacy in fostering strong relations. Ghobash underlined that parliamentary exchanges and dialogue are key to enhancing mutual understanding and supporting collaboration across economic, political, and technological areas.

Energy and Renewable Energy Cooperation

Energy and renewable energy were central topics during the talks. Both the UAE and Guatemala expressed interest in exploring joint projects and knowledge exchange to support sustainable energy development. This cooperation aims to strengthen energy security while advancing clean and renewable solutions for the future.

Advancing Food Security Initiatives

Food security was another key area discussed. Both nations agreed on the importance of collaboration in agricultural innovation, supply chain resilience, and technological solutions that can enhance food production and distribution in a sustainable manner.

Artificial Intelligence and Innovation

Artificial intelligence and innovation were highlighted as priority areas for cooperation. Both the UAE and Guatemala acknowledged the transformative potential of AI in economic growth, governance, and public services. They agreed to explore ways to share expertise, develop joint projects, and foster innovation-driven partnerships.

Expanding Economic and Investment Ties

Ambassador Jorge Rafael Ruiz emphasized Guatemala’s commitment to deepening economic cooperation with the UAE. Discussions included opportunities in investment, trade, and tourism, reflecting the growing interest of both countries in leveraging each other’s markets for mutual benefit.

Strengthening Bilateral Relations Through Dialogue

The meeting concluded with both leaders reaffirming the importance of continued dialogue, mutual visits, and strategic partnerships to solidify coordination. They agreed that ongoing engagement will ensure sustainable development and strengthen the overall UAE–Guatemala relationship.

Ghobash and Ambassador Ruiz expressed optimism about the future of bilateral ties. Both sides highlighted their shared vision for cooperation in strategic sectors, aiming to create meaningful opportunities for growth, innovation, and stronger diplomatic relations between the UAE and Guatemala.
