Hazza Ahmed Al Kaabi, UAE Ambassador to the Republic of Cuba, met with Hon. Philip Davis, Prime Minister of the Commonwealth of The Bahamas, at the government headquarters in Nassau. The meeting focused on enhancing bilateral relations and exploring new areas of cooperation between the two nations. Both sides expressed their commitment to developing stronger diplomatic, economic, and cultural ties that reflect the mutual respect and shared interests of their countries.
During the meeting, Ambassador Al Kaabi conveyed greetings from His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, and His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President, Deputy Prime Minister and Chairman of the Presidential Court. The ambassador extended the UAE leadership’s wishes for continued progress and prosperity to the government and people of The Bahamas. This message highlighted the UAE’s ongoing commitment to fostering friendly relations with nations across the Caribbean and beyond.
In response, Prime Minister Philip Davis expressed his appreciation to the UAE leadership for their kind greetings and goodwill. He conveyed his warm regards to Their Highnesses Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum and Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, along with his wishes for continued development, stability, and success for the government and people of the United Arab Emirates. The exchange of greetings reflected the spirit of mutual respect and cooperation that has come to define relations between the UAE and The Bahamas.
During his visit to Nassau, Ambassador Al Kaabi also took part in Bahamas Diplomatic Week 2025, an annual event that brings together diplomats, government officials, and global representatives to discuss international cooperation and development. His participation underscored the UAE’s growing diplomatic presence in the Caribbean region and its efforts to build partnerships that support global dialogue, peace, and sustainable development.
On the sidelines of the Diplomatic Week, Al Kaabi held meetings with several ministers and senior officials of The Bahamas. These discussions focused on identifying new areas of collaboration between the UAE and The Bahamas, including renewable energy, tourism development, education exchange, and climate resilience. Both sides emphasized the importance of expanding cooperation to serve the shared aspirations of their peoples and to contribute to sustainable growth in both nations.
The discussions between Al Kaabi and Bahamian officials also reflected the shared commitment of both countries to support global sustainability goals. The UAE’s experience in renewable energy, innovation, and environmental protection was seen as an area that could help The Bahamas strengthen its own climate action initiatives. Both nations agreed to explore joint projects that promote green technologies and disaster resilience, especially given the Bahamas’ vulnerability to hurricanes and rising sea levels.
The UAE’s growing engagement in the Caribbean region is part of its broader diplomatic strategy to build lasting friendships with nations that share its vision for progress, sustainability, and global cooperation. Through events like Bahamas Diplomatic Week, the UAE demonstrates its willingness to work with partners in the Western Hemisphere on issues ranging from trade and investment to cultural exchange and humanitarian assistance.
During the meetings, both parties expressed interest in promoting cultural understanding and economic exchange between their countries. The Bahamas’ tourism-driven economy and the UAE’s expertise in sustainable tourism and infrastructure development present opportunities for mutual benefit. Collaborative initiatives in education, digital transformation, and youth empowerment were also discussed as key areas for partnership in the coming years.
Ambassador Al Kaabi reaffirmed the UAE’s commitment to strengthening international partnerships based on dialogue, respect, and cooperation. He noted that the UAE continues to value its relations with countries of the Caribbean and Latin America and looks forward to expanding joint initiatives that contribute to economic growth and social development in these regions. The UAE’s participation in diplomatic events such as these reinforces its position as a global partner for peace and progress.
The meeting between Ambassador Hazza Al Kaabi and Prime Minister Philip Davis marked an important step forward in UAE–Bahamas relations. Both sides reaffirmed their dedication to continued dialogue and collaboration, aiming to transform their shared vision into concrete projects that benefit both peoples. Through ongoing diplomatic engagement and participation in international events, the UAE continues to build bridges of understanding with countries around the world, reflecting its vision of peaceful coexistence and sustainable progress.
