UAE President and Canadian PM Forge Stronger Ties

His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, engaged with the Right Honourable Mark Carney, Prime Minister of Canada, to explore avenues for enhancing bilateral relations and collaboration. This official visit was marked by a warm reception from H.H. Sheikh Mohamed at Qasr Al Shati in Abu Dhabi.

The discussions revolved around the longstanding UAE-Canada partnership, which has flourished over more than fifty years. Both leaders reiterated their commitment to advancing this robust relationship while identifying new opportunities across vital sectors such as investment, trade, technology, artificial intelligence, renewable energy, climate initiatives, education, culture, and sustainability.

Furthermore, regional and global issues of shared concern were deliberated. Both leaders reaffirmed their dedication to fostering peace, security, and stability at regional and global levels, emphasizing the paramount importance of multilateral collaboration for prosperity across nations.

H.H. Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed indicated that the UAE-Canada relationship exemplifies a successful cooperative model that fosters development and prosperity on both regional and international fronts. He noted that both nations align on critical issues that enhance development, peace, and global collaboration, setting a solid groundwork for future partnerships.

Prime Minister Mark Carney expressed admiration for the progression of UAE-Canada relations over the decades. He underscored Canada’s commitment to further bolstering collaboration in areas beneficial to both countries. He also highlighted that the UAE-Canada partnership contributes positively to worldwide peace, stability, and prosperity.

As part of the visit, an agreement was signed aimed at protecting and promoting investments, encouraging economic cooperation, and supporting strategic projects that align with the shared developmental objectives of both countries. H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, represented the UAE, while Prime Minister Mark Carney signed on behalf of Canada.

Moreover, a memorandum of understanding was unveiled focusing on investment cooperation, reflecting a joint ambition to broaden economic partnerships and uncover new opportunities to solidify the UAE-Canada connection.

The meeting saw several senior Emirati officials in attendance, including H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed, H.H. Sheikh Theyab bin Mohamed bin Zayed, H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohamed bin Zayed, and Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad bin Tahnoon Al Nahyan, alongside other ministers and high-ranking officials.

This significant high-level visit and the agreements inked during the proceedings highlight the robust partnership between the UAE and Canada. Both nations aspire to further amplify cooperation in trade, investment, technology, and sustainable growth, generating enduring benefits for their citizens and fostering regional and global stability.

Through these initiatives, the UAE and Canada affirm their dedication to a future centered on cooperation, shared progress, and mutual respect, while reinforcing bonds that have thrived over more than five decades.
