UAE Endorses Sudan Peace Initiatives, Advocates for Civilian Leadership

Post by : Bianca Haleem

The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has expressed its endorsement of a recently issued joint statement regarding Sudan, underscoring its dedication to fostering a peaceful, democratic, and stable future that reflects the hopes of the Sudanese populace.

Recognizing the vital role of international and regional endeavors, the UAE has commended ongoing efforts to resolve the Sudan crisis. Notably, it appreciated the findings from the Berlin Conference, which urged cessation of hostilities and initiation of a civilian-led comprehensive political dialogue.

Further, the UAE has reiterated its unwavering support for initiatives aimed at establishing a humanitarian ceasefire and ensuring a permanent truce. This includes an emphasis on alleviating humanitarian distress, safeguarding civilians, and facilitating the consistent delivery of humanitarian aid to those affected.

The UAE also acknowledged the contributions of the Quintet in pushing toward an inclusive political solution for Sudan, especially the consultations held in Addis Ababa from June 3 to June 5, intended to set up a preparatory committee for inclusive dialogue among the Sudanese.

Highlighting the essentiality of a political resolution, the UAE reinforced its stance on supporting an independent, inclusive transition led by civilians. The UAE called for a process that resonates with the aspirations of the Sudanese people for security, stability, and a dignified existence.

In closing, the UAE reaffirmed its readiness to assist all diplomatic and humanitarian measures that advance the pursuit of enduring peace and stability in Sudan.
