The United Nations has renewed its appeal for the protection of civilians and civilian infrastructure across the Gaza Strip, stressing the importance of adhering to international humanitarian law amid ongoing conflict. UN officials warned that vulnerable populations continue to face significant risks due to military operations and the deteriorating humanitarian situation.
OCHA Warns of Continued Risks
The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) stated that civilians, humanitarian workers and aid facilities remain exposed to air strikes and shelling. The agency reported incidents of injuries and damage affecting humanitarian operations, raising concerns about the safety of relief efforts across the territory.
Humanitarian Facility Damaged in Deir al-Balah
According to OCHA, a building belonging to a humanitarian organization in Deir al-Balah suffered damage following an air strike in a nearby area. The incident highlighted the increasing vulnerability of aid organizations working to deliver critical assistance to affected communities in Gaza.
Aid Deliveries Face New Challenges
The UN also noted a reduction in the entry of humanitarian supplies through the Kerem Abu Salem crossing. Officials warned that limited access to essential goods could further worsen living conditions for thousands of families who depend on external assistance for food, medicine and basic necessities.
Water and Sanitation Access Remains Limited
Beyond Gaza, the United Nations expressed concern about access to water and sanitation services in parts of the West Bank. The agency cited settler violence, movement restrictions, demolitions and infrastructure destruction as key factors affecting communities, particularly in northern areas and Masafer Yatta.
Humanitarian Partners Continue Relief Efforts
Despite operational difficulties, the United Nations and its humanitarian partners continue to transport food supplies, medicines and hygiene materials into Gaza. These aid deliveries are aimed at supporting the most vulnerable families facing severe shortages amid ongoing instability.
WHO Supports Medical Evacuations
The World Health Organization and its partners also facilitated the medical evacuation of 26 patients along with their companions. UN agencies emphasized that humanitarian assistance and medical support remain essential as efforts continue to address urgent needs and protect civilian lives throughout the region.
