His recent post emphasizes the dangers of this common habit.

Dr. Sethi reassures that our ears have a self-cleaning mechanism. This natural process means that cotton buds and other tools are unnecessary for wax removal. Though earwax might appear unattractive, it serves a critical function by shielding the ear canal from dust, dirt, and bacteria. Over time, earwax naturally exits the ear, but using cotton buds tends to push it further in, potentially causing blockages, discomfort, or infections.

Furthermore, Dr. Sethi points out that cotton bud usage can result in physical damage to the ear.
