World Diabetes Day 2025: Expert Advocates for 30 Minutes of Daily Activity to Manage Diabetes

Post by : Saif Al-Najjar

On this World Diabetes Day 2025, health professionals emphasize that diabetes management extends beyond just monitoring sugar levels. It is intricately connected to lifestyle choices. Prolonged sitting, poor dietary habits, and inadequate physical activity contribute to the onset of diabetes and other health issues over time.

Dr. N.K. Soni, a seasoned physician with four decades of expertise, asserts that managing diabetes doesn’t necessarily entail following strict dietary restrictions or engaging in complicated workouts. He highlights that dedicating a mere 30 minutes each day to physical activities can substantially influence blood sugar stability.

Common misconceptions suggest that one needs special gear or a gym membership. Dr. Soni clarifies that simple, daily tasks can boost physical well-being. Opt for walking to nearby locations instead of online shopping. Choose the stairs over the elevator. Engage in dancing while you clean or enjoy outdoor playtime with your children. Any movement is beneficial.

Although many express a lack of time for exercise, Dr. Soni points out how easily we spend countless hours on our smartphones. He encourages leveraging at least half an hour of that time for a brisk stroll. Minor adjustments in daily routines can yield significant health improvements.

Additionally, Dr. Soni provides straightforward tips to counteract a sedentary lifestyle. He recommends avoiding the habit of lounging right after dinner; instead, take a gentle walk around your home or walk while on the phone. This practice enables the body to utilize sugars from food more effectively, preventing excess levels in the bloodstream.

He also stresses the importance of hydration. Drinking ample water is crucial for flushing out toxins and ensuring the body's various systems function optimally.

On this significant day recognized globally, the takeaway resonates: diabetes management is achievable with manageable, uncomplicated adjustments. Engaging in daily movement, maintaining hydration, and adopting mindful habits can enormously enhance one’s health. Dr. Soni encapsulates the message: “Just half an hour is all it takes to begin combating diabetes.”
