A significant gathering centered on children’s rights and their involvement was convened in Bishkek, uniting school leaders and student representatives throughout the city. The purpose was to enhance the participation of the youth in the decision-making processes that affect their lives directly.
Asel Chynbaeva, the Commissioner for Children’s Rights, attended the session, engaging students and responding to their concerns and ideas. She stressed the need for mechanisms to ensure that children’s perspectives are considered in policymaking.
Throughout the discussions, attendees underscored the necessity for permanent channels that enable children to articulate their opinions. They explored how students could take a more active role in shaping policies related to education, social welfare, and urban planning.
A variety of topics concerning children and teenagers emerged during this meeting, including psychological well-being, prevention of bullying and cyberbullying, protection from domestic abuse, and ensuring inclusion and equal opportunities for all students, regardless of their backgrounds.
Students voiced the need for improved mental health resources and enhanced support systems for families. Their concerns reflect an increasing awareness among the youth regarding their rights and overall well-being in today’s society.
Additionally, improving the education system was a vital topic. Participants discussed upgrading school facilities, boosting healthcare within schools, and ensuring the emotional well-being of educators, all of which significantly influence educational quality.
The meeting emphasized the necessity of school self-governance as a means to cultivate leadership abilities and civic responsibility among students. Officials assured that all suggestions and viewpoints shared during the event would be reviewed to refine youth policies and bolster children's rights in Kyrgyzstan.
