In a remarkable achievement, 19-year-old Abdul Rahman Ahmed Abdul Haq from Baniyas Club has won the gold medal in the 56 kg amateur category at the Abu Dhabi World Professional Jiu-Jitsu Championship, currently held at Mubadala Arena in Zayed Sports City.

The young athlete shared that Jiu-Jitsu has revolutionized his life, instilling discipline, confidence, and mental resilience. He highlighted how the sport has reshaped his perspective on challenges both on and off the mat.

Following his victory, Abdul Rahman stated, “Jiu-Jitsu has completely changed my life. It taught me commitment and discipline, encouraging me to approach every aspect of life with determination. I went from being ordinary to feeling more confident, organized, and responsible.

His journey with Jiu-Jitsu began during his school years, thanks to the UAE’s progressive leadership that has championed sports culture among youth. He emphasized how national initiatives provided him the tools needed to excel on an international level.

Abdul Rahman noted that Jiu-Jitsu is an integral part of his routine, dedicating countless hours to mastering techniques and enhancing both his physical and mental faculties. To him, this sport has become more than a competition; it defines his lifestyle.

Referring to Jiu-Jitsu as a catalyst for emotional and mental growth, he expressed its teachings of patience, respect, and discipline that extend beyond the mat and into daily living.

He remarked, “Jiu-Jitsu isn’t just a pastime. It shapes my growth mentally, emotionally, and socially. It has equipped me with resilience to confront challenges just as I do in matches.”

Looking ahead, Abdul Rahman harbors ambitions of securing more international titles and achieving the prestigious black belt. He aims to represent the UAE on a global stage and inspire young Emiratis to engage in Jiu-Jitsu.

“My dream is to accumulate championships and earn a black belt. I want to honor my country for its immense support. Jiu-Jitsu is a vital part of my life, and I’ll strive to make my nation proud,” he stated.

His triumph symbolizes the UAE’s commitment to promote Jiu-Jitsu as a national sport. The nation has evolved into a global center for this martial discipline, hosting elite tournaments and nurturing future athletes through educational initiatives.

The Abu Dhabi World Professional Jiu-Jitsu Championship is recognized as one of the premier events in the sport, bringing together numerous participants worldwide. It serves as a platform for athletes at all levels to exhibit their skills, perseverance, and discipline.

Abdul Rahman has distinguished himself through consistent performances in earlier competitions, including a strong finish at the Abu Dhabi Grand Slam, a leading regional event for Jiu-Jitsu. His relentless pursuit of excellence has established him as one of the UAE’s most promising young talents.
