The Abu Dhabi Department of Education and Knowledge (ADEK) has started its special School Break Camps for the summer holidays. These camps are created to help children enjoy their time off from school while still learning in fun and exciting ways.
Every year, when the long summer vacation starts, many parents and children look for ways to stay active and make the holidays meaningful. ADEK listened to what parents and students liked in past years and made the camps even better this time. They have also partnered with famous and trusted groups and organizations to design these camps with high quality and lots of variety.
A Camp for Every Child's Interest
There are many different kinds of camps this year, and each one is made to match what children like to do. No matter what your child is interested in, there is something for them.
If your child likes cooking, they can join the Culinary Arts Camp by ICCA. Here, children can learn how to cook different dishes and enjoy making food in a real kitchen.
For kids who love painting, drawing, or designing, there is the Art Explorers Camp or the Mobile Art Programme. These art camps help children express their creativity and have fun with colors and ideas.
There is also a camp for children who are interested in writing and news. This is called the Journalism Camp by Storm, where kids can learn how to report news, write stories, and even create their own newsletters.
If your child wants to learn Arabic, they can join the Arabic learning camp by Beit Arabi Center. It’s a good way for children to improve their Arabic speaking, reading, and writing in an easy and fun way.
Children who want to become better at reading can go to the Reading Improvement Camp by Al Mubarakah Foundation, where they can enjoy books and games that help them become stronger readers.
Inclusion for Everyone: Camps for Students of Determination
ADEK has also made special camps for Students of Determination. These are children who may have different physical or learning needs. These special camps make sure that every child is included and has the chance to enjoy, learn, and grow, just like others. There are teachers and helpers to give them support and make them feel happy and comfortable.
For Kids Who Love Sports
Many children enjoy playing games and being active, especially in the summer. There are sports camps where kids can have lots of fun while also learning teamwork and staying healthy.
The Multi Sports Camp by Haraka Fitness is perfect for children who like to try different games. This camp includes cricket, tennis, netball, dodgeball, rugby, and badminton.
If your child loves football, they can join the Football Camp by Pass Academy.
For those interested in wrestling, there is a special camp by the UAE Wrestling Federation where children can safely learn wrestling techniques.
Another exciting option is the Unified Basketball Camp by Storm. This camp is open to all children, and they learn to play basketball together in a friendly and inclusive way.
Camps That Teach Life Skills for the Future
This year, ADEK has added new types of camps that focus on teaching children about important life skills that will help them in the future. These camps are made to prepare kids for real-world experiences, even at a young age.
The Young Business Leaders Camp by Storm teaches children how to start their own small businesses, think like entrepreneurs, and work with others.
The Financial Literacy Camp by Zoud helps children understand money, saving, and spending in a smart way.
There’s also a Future Careers Camp by Pole Position and Hashtat, which helps children learn about different jobs and how they can plan their careers from a young age.
These camps are great for children to learn how the world works and get ready for life after school.
Special Tech Camps for Older Students
For older students, especially those in high school, there are more advanced camps that focus on technology and artificial intelligence (AI).
These camps are run with the help of top universities, including:
Mohamed bin Zayed University of AI
Khalifa University
Abu Dhabi University
IIT Delhi – Abu Dhabi
Students in these camps can learn amazing new skills like:
Data handling
3D design and printing
Writing prompts for AI
Understanding how technology works
These camps are not only fun but also very useful for students who want to study science, technology, or engineering in the future.
42 Bootcamps with Real-Life Projects
In Abu Dhabi, there are also 42 special bootcamps this summer. These bootcamps are a bit different. Students work in teams, and they learn by doing real projects, not just from books.
Some of these bootcamps include:
AI Summer Camp
Python Coding Camp
Generative AI & Prompt Engineering
Business Bootcamps with Khalifa Fund
These bootcamps help children become better at problem-solving, communication, teamwork, and technology.
More Choices for Parents: 33 Extra Camps
Besides all the amazing camps mentioned above, parents can choose from 33 more camps that are organized by trusted partners and providers. This means every child in Abu Dhabi can find a camp that they enjoy and that helps them learn and grow. Whether it’s arts, sports, technology, or languages, there’s something for everyone.
ADEK’s Message: Learning Never Stops
Dr. Bashaer Al Matrooshi from ADEK said that these summer camps are not just for fun, but also a great way for children to keep learning even when school is closed.
She said, “These camps are designed to help children grow in many ways—not just in the classroom, but also in their hearts and minds. We want students to feel excited and happy to learn, even during the holidays.”
She added that when children join these camps, they become more confident, make new friends, discover new talents, and become ready for the future.
Why These Camps Are Important
These camps are more than just summer fun. They:
Keep children active and engaged
Help them learn new skills
Teach them about teamwork and respect
Allow them to explore their passions
Help them become future-ready
They also support parents, as they give children a safe and enjoyable place to go during the summer break.
