Post by : Mariam Al-Faris

The Abu Dhabi Sailing Team finished the 2025 Mussanah Sailing Week with impressive achievements, securing six medals across multiple disciplines. Emirati competitors showcased their skills, excelling among over 100 entrants from the region and beyond. This event underscored the UAE’s burgeoning reputation in the world of competitive sailing.

Abdullah Al Zubaidi triumphed with a gold medal in the ILCA 4 category, exhibiting exceptional strategy and performance. In the girls’ division, Marwa Al Hammadi also took home the gold, while Al Yazia Al Hammadi followed closely with a silver medal. These accolades reflect the strength of Abu Dhabi’s youth sailing initiatives and the emerging talent in the Emirati sailing community.

In the ILCA 7 category, Mohammed Al Hammadi earned a silver medal after a series of impressive races that displayed his skill and determination. Additionally, Khalifa Al Rumaithi won two bronze medals—one in the Optimist class and another in the team race for the same class, highlighting the team's adaptability across different sailing formats and age groups.

Khalifa Al Suwaidi, Director of the Abu Dhabi Marine Sports Academy, expressed pride in the team’s accomplishments. He remarked that these outcomes reflect the academy's ongoing commitment to developing elite Emirati sailing talent through its structured training programs.

Al Suwaidi mentioned that events like the Mussanah Sailing Week are part of the academy’s strategic plan to create a new generation of Emirati sailors prepared for international competition. Exposure to diverse sailing techniques and competitive settings enhances both technical and physical abilities, paving the way for ongoing growth and readiness for future challenges.

The Mussanah Sailing Week is recognized as one of the key maritime events in the region, blending competitive racing with educational and cultural experiences. This comprehensive platform promotes skill enhancement and international collaboration, encouraging young sailors to gain confidence and compete at elevated levels while fostering maritime culture and teamwork.

The success of the Abu Dhabi Sailing Team at Mussanah Sailing Week highlights the efficacy of the UAE’s sailing development programs. With continued emphasis on training, international event participation, and targeted talent cultivation, the team is well-positioned to enhance its performance in future regional and global competitions, reinforcing the UAE's presence in the maritime sports arena.
