Etihad Airways Prepares for Busy Winter Travel Season in Abu Dhabi

Post by : Mariam Al-Faris

Etihad Airways is preparing for one of its busiest winter travel seasons ever, as Abu Dhabi expects more than 2 million travellers this December. The festive season attracts both local and international visitors, with holidaymakers taking advantage of extended school breaks and special seasonal activities.

The growing appeal of Abu Dhabi as a global destination is evident in the strong demand for flights. The capital’s expanding cultural and leisure offerings, including museums, entertainment centres, and family-friendly attractions, are drawing visitors from around the world. Etihad Airways’ network growth throughout 2025 also supports this surge, making it easier for people to reach Abu Dhabi and continue their journeys globally.

To ensure a smoother travel experience, Etihad encourages passengers to make use of its digital services, such as mobile check-in, e-boarding passes, and flight notifications. These tools help reduce waiting times at the airport, providing a convenient journey for families, solo travellers, and holidaymakers alike.

Abu Dhabi City Check-In is another service designed to simplify travel. Passengers can check in at designated city locations, drop off their luggage, and head straight to the airport, saving valuable time. Additional options, like Early Check-In and Home Check-In, allow guests to complete procedures in advance for added flexibility.

For December travel, Etihad advises passengers to arrive early and use these services to enjoy a stress-free start to their holiday. The Etihad App provides features such as booking updates, travel guidance, and easy access to flight and baggage information. Early Bag Drop and other self-service options further help minimise queues and waiting times at the airport.

Etihad Airways’ preparations for the high-demand winter season highlight its commitment to passenger comfort, efficiency, and convenience. By combining modern digital tools, extended service options, and a focus on seamless travel, the airline aims to enhance the journey for every guest arriving in Abu Dhabi or transiting through the city.

With millions expected to travel this winter, Etihad Airways and Abu Dhabi continue to strengthen their roles as leading hubs for global tourism, festive celebrations, and family travel. Visitors are encouraged to plan ahead, utilise available services, and enjoy Abu Dhabi’s vibrant entertainment, cultural, and leisure offerings, all while experiencing a smooth and enjoyable journey through one of the world’s most modern airports.
