A significant leap forward for the agricultural logistics sector in Pakistan has emerged with the announcement of a strategic collaboration between AD Ports Group and Karachi Gateway Terminal Multipurpose Limited (KGTML) along with Louis Dreyfus Company Pakistan (LDC). This alliance will focus on the development and management of a cutting-edge clean bulk handling and storage facility at Karachi Port, intended to enhance the nation’s food supply chain and optimize maritime operations.
Per the agreement, KGTML is set to undertake the construction of a highly efficient, food-safe bulk terminal, featuring advanced conveyor and handling systems, alongside all essential infrastructure and utilities. This facility aims to ensure the safe handling and storage of dry agricultural products in line with international standards. LDC, a global leader in agricultural trading, has pledged to funnel substantial inbound cargo volumes through this new terminal as it expands its footprint in Pakistan.
This latest investment builds upon the previously confirmed USD 75 million funding by AD Ports Group during the initial phase of the KGTML initiative. The collaboration aligns with the overarching strategy of ADQ—parent company of both AD Ports Group and LDC—to fortify critical infrastructure and enhance supply chains in the region.
The formal agreement was signed in Abu Dhabi, with high-ranking officials from both companies present, highlighting the significance of this development for Pakistan’s port ecosystem and the strengthening economic relationships between the UAE and Pakistan.
Once operational, the facility is expected to streamline cargo handling processes, boost storage capacities, and ensure a dependable movement of agricultural commodities within and beyond the country’s borders. By implementing state-of-the-art systems and adhering to food-grade safety protocols, this terminal is poised to strengthen Pakistan’s resilience against supply chain interruptions and enhance the effectiveness of its agricultural logistics infrastructure.
In parallel to this initiative, AD Ports Group is also focused on advancing its management of the Karachi Gateway Terminal Limited (KGTL) container terminal, further establishing Pakistan as a pivotal maritime passageway to Central Asia and a crucial element in the developing Middle Corridor trade pathway connecting China and Europe.
Overall, this new clean bulk facility signifies a critical advancement for both nations, boosting trade connectivity and reaffirming Pakistan’s position in regional agricultural trade.
