The official price of Omani crude oil for delivery next October reached $99.61 per barrel on Friday, August 21, according to figures reported by the Oman News Agency.
The latest price represents a significant daily increase and brings Omani crude close to the important $100-per-barrel level.
Omani crude oil rose by $4.70 per barrel compared with the previous day's price of $94.91.
The increase represents a notable movement in the benchmark price and highlights continued volatility in the international oil market.
The official price applies to Omani crude scheduled for delivery in October. At $99.61 per barrel, the latest figure is only slightly below the $100 mark.
Oil prices are closely watched by governments, energy companies, traders and consumers because changes in crude prices can influence fuel costs, transportation expenses and broader economic conditions.
The Oman News Agency also reported that the monthly average price of Omani crude for August delivery stood at $79.09 per barrel.
That average was $22.91 lower than the price recorded for Omani crude scheduled for delivery in July.
Oman is an important oil producer in the Gulf region, and the price of its crude is closely followed as an indicator of developments in regional and international energy markets.
Changes in Omani crude prices can be relevant to refiners and buyers across Asia and other major oil-consuming markets.
The latest increase comes as global energy markets continue to monitor crude oil movements and changing supply and demand conditions.
A sustained rise in crude prices could increase costs for energy importers and potentially affect fuel prices and inflation in some economies.
With October-delivery Omani crude now at $99.61 per barrel, the latest increase puts the benchmark close to the psychologically important $100 level.
Market participants will continue watching whether prices remain near this level or move higher or lower in the coming trading sessions.
