Bam Adebayo led the Miami Heat to a resounding 146-114 victory over the Memphis Grizzlies, scoring 24 points en route to the team’s first win following the suspension of guard Terry Rozier due to gambling-related issues. Adebayo’s impressive showing propelled Miami to an early lead, allowing them to control the game from start to finish.
Nikola Jovic added 20 points, Kel'el Ware 19, and Jaime Jaquez Jr. contributed 17 points, alongside 10 rebounds and six assists. Their performances highlighted Miami's depth and allowed the team to maintain a rapid pace on both sides of the court. Strong teamwork was evident through fast breaks, sharp perimeter shooting, and solid defensive efforts that kept Memphis at a distance.
Jaren Jackson Jr. was Memphis’ leading scorer with 19 points, while rookie Cedric Coward and Santi Aldama added 16 and 13 points, respectively. Ja Morant, who previously scored 35 points in a win against New Orleans, struggled this game with only 12 points on 4-of-16 shooting. Memphis couldn’t match Miami’s high scoring and defensive energy.
The decisive first quarter saw Miami execute a remarkable 17-0 run, during which Adebayo scored 18 points. The Heat established a significant lead early, forcing the Grizzlies to chase the game for its duration. Miami’s fast-paced start influenced their commanding gameplay throughout.
By the midway point of the second quarter, Miami's advantage had surged to 56-30, driven by an impressive 65% shooting rate, including 8 of 11 from beyond the arc. This exceptional efficiency allowed them to take a commanding 86-47 lead into halftime, making a Memphis comeback highly improbable.
This victory served as a strong statement by the Heat in the wake of the confusion around Terry Rozier’s situation. The team’s offensive chemistry, defensive vigor, and thoughtful rotation management were apparent. Bam Adebayo’s leadership was crucial in steering the team through a difficult period, establishing confidence for future games.
Looking ahead, the Heat aim to build on this emphatic win while Memphis must regroup and seek reliable performances from their star players, notably Ja Morant, to stay in contention in upcoming matchups.
