ADNOC Abu Dhabi Marathon Wins Bronze at Leaders Sports Awards 2024

Post by : Raina Al-Fahim

The ADNOC Abu Dhabi Marathon 2024 secured the Bronze Award in the "Fan Solution Category" at the Leaders Sports Awards 2024 in London. The recognition highlights the event's advances in engaging spectators and strengthening community participation, affirming its place among leading international road races.

Organised by the Abu Dhabi Sports Council in partnership with ADNOC, the marathon drew more than 33,000 runners from around the world — including elite athletes, recreational runners and families — competing across distances from the full marathon to community fun runs. The event combined competitive racing with broad public involvement.

Event organisers emphasised innovation, sustainability and inclusivity as core priorities. Measures introduced included reduced plastic use, monitoring the event's carbon footprint and adopting greener event management practices. Community reach was extended through school initiatives and interactive social media activities that promoted healthy lifestyles and greater participation.

Talal Mustafa Al Hashemi, Executive Director of the Events Sector at the Abu Dhabi Sports Council, said the award reflects collaborative efforts between the council, ADNOC and partner organisations. He added that the accolade underlines their ongoing commitment to delivering a world-class sporting occasion that balances athletic performance, community engagement and sustainable operations.

The Bronze Award at the Leaders Sports Awards reinforces Abu Dhabi's growing role on the international sports stage and highlights the UAE's continued focus on promoting fitness, innovation and inclusive fan experiences.
