Bollywood actor Aftab Shivdasani, who began his journey in Hindi cinema as a child star, has categorically denied circulating drug use allegations from his early industry days. At 47, he is recognized for his roles in films like Mr India, Mast, Kasoor, and the Masti series, and he has chosen to focus on the essence of truth amid gossip.
During a recent interview, Aftab mentioned, “The truth doesn't make noise. The truth is always silent. And the truth doesn't need to prove itself.” He described the rumors as “the funniest” he has encountered about himself, highlighting that his priority has always been his work rather than engaging in controversies.
Aftab went on to discuss perceptions of his character and alleged attitude issues. Reflecting on his extensive career in Bollywood, which kicked off with the memorable Mr India in 1987, he noted that the industry can be “very unforgiving.” Despite facing criticism and challenges, he believes in nurturing a balanced reputation. “I had loads of enemies and people talking badly about me. Thankfully, I've built a reputation where people may not like me, but they don't hate me — because they don't know me enough,” he elaborated.
Starting his career at just nine years old, Aftab has navigated the rise and fall of Bollywood firsthand. He emphasizes that remaining authentic and concentrating on one's craft is essential for longevity in this competitive landscape.
Looking ahead, Aftab is gearing up for the fourth installment of the adult comedy series, Mastiii 4, directed by Milap Zaveri. The film features Vivek Oberoi and Riteish Deshmukh, promising to bring the franchise’s distinctive mix of humor and drama.
Over a career spanning more than thirty years, Aftab has earned respect in Bollywood, recognized not only for his acting skills but also for his thoughtful approach to fame, controversies, and personal integrity.
