Ahaan Panday Denies 'Star Kid' Tag, Embraces His Journey Post-Saiyaara

Ahaan Panday Denies 'Star Kid' Tag, Embraces His Journey Post-Saiyaara

Post by : Meena Hassan

Ahaan Panday’s entry into Bollywood has been nothing short of spectacular. His debut film, Saiyaara, directed by Mohit Suri, is a blockbuster hit, grossing around ₹580 crore and earning the title of the highest-grossing romantic film in India. Celebrated for his performance by both fans and critics alike, Ahaan is off to a remarkable start. However, conversations regarding his background and privilege continue to surround him.

Ahaan Panday addresses the 'star kid' stereotype

In a recent chat with GQ, Ahaan tackled the often-discussed label of “star kid.” He clarified that he doesn’t fit into this category since his father, Aloke 'Chikki' Pandey, is not an actor.
“I can’t claim to speak from experience since Chikki Pandey isn’t a star,” he stated. “However, if I were to represent my friends, I can assure you that everyone encounters their own challenges.”

Ahaan’s parents, Chikki Pandey, a businessman, and wellness expert Deanne Pandey, are not entrenched in the film industry. Nevertheless, the close friendship his father shares with Shah Rukh Khan and the presence of his uncle, Chunky Panday, a prominent actor, meant Ahaan spent significant time around the film elite during his upbringing.

Privileged yet grounded: Ahaan's reflections

Revisiting his childhood experiences, Ahaan remarked on feeling adjacent to the film industry without truly being a part of it.
“I’ve always perceived my origins as being behind a barrier. While I could reach out, touching what’s beyond remained elusive,” he expressed. “Being surrounded by the film industry imparted valuable lessons, even if I wasn’t fully immersed. That exposure signifies my privilege.”

Ahaan Panday's upcoming projects

Following the success of Saiyaara as one of India’s top box office earners of 2025, Ahaan is set to embark on his next adventure with Yash Raj Films. This upcoming action-romance, helmed by Ali Abbas Zafar, will showcase Sharvari alongside Ahaan, with Aaishvary Thackeray starring as the antagonist. The film remains untitled for now.
