In a much-anticipated Hall of Fame Series matchup in Inglewood, California, Arizona faced off against UCLA, two prominent basketball powerhouses in the western U.S. The game was intense from the get-go, featuring solid defensive strategies and tactical gameplay from both squads. Arizona arrived with an unbeaten record of 4-0, while UCLA had a record of 3-1, setting up expectations for a close game — and they did not disappoint.
Anthony Dell’Orso emerged as Arizona’s star, scoring 20 points and demonstrating his ability to perform under pressure, especially in the game’s closing minutes. His critical four three-pointers played a pivotal role as he helped stabilize Arizona’s efforts when UCLA threatened to extend their lead.
Jaden Bradley added 15 points, with a remarkable 13 points scored in the second half, proving crucial for Arizona’s energy and offensive drive. His audacious plays, including a momentum-shifting dunk and a high-arching bank shot just moments before the finish, were key in helping secure the victory.
Despite the setback, UCLA showcased a commendable performance with Tyler Bilodeau leading with 19 points. He was solid from the field, making seven of ten shots and delivering essential three-pointers. Eric Dailey Jr. contributed with 13 points, while Donovan Dent scored 11 points and distributed eight assists, demonstrating valuable playmaking skills. Xavier Booker also added ten points and secured seven rebounds for the Bruins.
At one point in the second half, Arizona faced an eight-point deficit as UCLA surged ahead. Refusing to back down, the Wildcats mounted a fierce response with an 11-2 scoring run, capped by Dell’Orso’s clutch three-pointer that swung the lead in Arizona’s favor at 60-59, reinvigorating their supporters.
The final minutes delivered a thrilling showcase of basketball. A quick score from Bilodeau put UCLA back in front, but Bradley countered with a stunning dunk. Clark from UCLA then narrowed the margin to 63-62 with his shot. The decisive moment arrived when Bradley confidently hit a three-pointer, propelling Arizona to a 65-63 advantage with over a minute left, followed by a challenging bank shot to extend their lead to four.
With just 19 seconds on the clock, Dent’s layup brought UCLA within two, but Dell’Orso’s composed free throws ultimately ensured a four-point gap, sealing the win for Arizona. Clark's missed final three-pointer allowed Arizona to run the clock down to the buzzer.
This victory advances Arizona to 4-0 this season, demonstrating their resilience in high-pressure moments. Their triumphant mix of offensive strength, teamwork, and late-game execution reveals their potential as contenders for a top-five ranking. Conversely, UCLA, now at 3-1, will need to reassess their strategies for managing close games.
