A major health meeting took place in Bahrain between top national health officials and a high-level visitor from the World Health Organization (WHO). Lieutenant General Dr. Shaikh Mohammed bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, who is the Chairman of the Supreme Council of Health (SCH) in Bahrain, welcomed Dr. Hanan Hassan Balkhy, the WHO’s Regional Director for the Eastern Mediterranean. The goal of the meeting was to improve health cooperation and strengthen Bahrain’s healthcare system through global partnerships.
Minister of Health and Senior Officials Join the Visit
Dr. Jaleela bint Al Sayed Jawad Hasan, Bahrain’s Minister of Health, also attended the meeting. Along with her, senior officials and top executives from Bahrain’s main health sectors were present. Their attendance showed how serious Bahrain is about working closely with the WHO. The presence of so many top-level health leaders from Bahrain highlighted the importance of the visit and the shared goals of both sides.
Bahrain’s Leadership Supports Strong Health Services
Dr. Shaikh Mohammed spoke about Bahrain’s strong commitment to building a modern healthcare system. He said that this commitment is guided by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister. Bahrain is working to create an integrated healthcare model. This model focuses on quality services, long-term sustainability, and strong governance. It ensures that healthcare is organized, fair, and beneficial to all.
Working Together with International Organisations
The SCH Chairman explained that Bahrain believes in strong partnerships with international organisations, especially the WHO. These partnerships help Bahrain improve the quality of healthcare services, bring in the latest medical treatments, and build a more effective national health system. Working with the WHO allows Bahrain to learn from global experiences and make its system even better for the people.
WHO Visit Shows Global Trust in Bahrain
Dr. Jaleela, the Minister of Health, said that the visit from the WHO’s Regional Director shows the good relationship between Bahrain and the global health organisation. She said it reflects how much trust the WHO and other international organisations have in Bahrain’s healthcare progress. It shows that Bahrain is on the right track and that the WHO is ready to continue working closely with the country to improve health services.
Main Focus: Prevention, Digital Tools, and Health Access
Dr. Jaleela also shared the areas where Bahrain and the WHO are working together. These include health prevention, digital health systems, and universal health coverage. Health prevention means stopping diseases before they spread. Digital health refers to using technology to make health services faster and easier. Universal coverage means everyone in Bahrain can get medical help when they need it, without facing financial problems. These are all areas where the WHO is helping Bahrain to grow stronger.
WHO’s Appreciation for Bahrain’s Health Achievements
Dr. Hanan Balkhy, the WHO Regional Director, praised Bahrain for its progress in the healthcare sector. She said that Bahrain’s healthcare services are advanced and show a strong commitment to providing health services for all. She noted that Bahrain’s efforts are clear proof of the country’s dedication to building a health system that is strong, creative, and able to deal with different health needs.
WHO Will Continue to Support Bahrain
Dr. Balkhy also said that the WHO will continue to support Bahrain in different ways. This includes offering technical help, sending expert teams, sharing international health knowledge, and helping Bahrain respond to urgent health issues. Whether the challenge is short-term like a health emergency, or long-term like planning health strategies, the WHO is ready to work with Bahrain every step of the way.
Review of Health Studies and Training Committees
During her visit, Dr. Balkhy also took time to learn more about some of Bahrain’s important healthcare institutions. She visited the Bahrain Council for Health Studies and Specialties, where future doctors and health workers are trained. She also met with the Health Strategic Planning and Training Committee, which is responsible for making long-term plans and training healthcare staff. These institutions play a big role in shaping the future of Bahrain’s healthcare.
Focus on Training and Developing Talent
One of the major topics discussed during the meetings was education and training. Bahrain and the WHO both agreed that training health workers is very important. When doctors, nurses, and medical staff are well trained, patients receive better care. Investing in training and education helps Bahrain build its national talent and reduce its need to bring in health workers from other countries. It also means that the healthcare system becomes more self-reliant and efficient.
Improving Healthcare Quality Across the Kingdom
The leaders at the meeting also talked about how training and planning will help raise the quality of healthcare all over Bahrain. This means not just in the capital or main hospitals, but in smaller towns and health centres too. Everyone in Bahrain, no matter where they live, should get the same level of high-quality medical care. This is one of the goals of Bahrain’s healthcare strategy.
Strong Cooperation for a Healthier Future
The visit of Dr. Balkhy marked an important moment in the partnership between Bahrain and the WHO. Both sides showed that they are committed to working together in the future. Their shared goal is to improve healthcare services, make health systems more modern, and ensure health for all people in Bahrain. The cooperation is not just about today’s health problems, but also about building a better and healthier future for the next generation.
Bahrain’s Example for the Region
Dr. Balkhy’s visit also helped show that Bahrain can be a good example for other countries in the region. By building strong health partnerships, focusing on education and training, using digital tools, and making sure everyone can access care, Bahrain is becoming a leader in regional healthcare. The WHO believes that the lessons learned in Bahrain can help other Eastern Mediterranean countries improve their health systems too.
Looking Ahead With Hope and Confidence
As the visit came to an end, both Bahrain and the WHO expressed hope and confidence in their future work together. With continued support, shared goals, and strong teamwork, Bahrain can reach even higher levels of healthcare service. The WHO stands ready to help Bahrain take on new health challenges and create more success stories for its people.
