Balbir Singh Marks 40-Year Milestone at McDonald's in Massachusetts

Post by : Bianca Haleem

Massachusetts – On Monday, Balbir Singh, an employee of Indian descent, was celebrated for his impressive 40-year journey at a McDonald’s restaurant in Massachusetts. Arriving in style via limousine, Singh was warmly welcomed by enthusiastic co-workers and franchise executives, commemorating his four-decade dedication to the fast-food giant.

Singh journeyed to the United States in the 1980s, starting his career with McDonald’s in Somerville in 1985. His path led him from kitchen staff to managing several locations, earning him wide respect for his steadfast commitment to the business and its workers.

The milestone was marked by a service award, a special commemorative jacket called “One in Eight” that represents the many individuals employed by McDonald’s, along with a $40,000 check symbolizing his 40-year commitment. His colleagues, who fondly refer to him as “papa bear,” rolled out a red carpet and hosted a dinner in his honor.

Franchise owner Lindsay Wallin shared her appreciation for Singh’s dedication, reminiscing about his pivotal role in shaping the restaurant’s culture and mentoring newcomers. “Balbir has adopted our motto of ‘Why not?’ and has motivated countless team members to advance with us,” Wallin remarked.

Looking back on his extensive career, Singh described McDonald’s as “like family,” reflecting why he remained with the company for such a long time. His journey, celebrated with heartfelt gestures and recognition, exemplifies loyalty, dedication, and the human bonds forged during years of steadfast effort.
