A disturbing event has emerged from Bengaluru, where a 60-year-old pilot working for a private aviation company has been accused of sexually assaulting a 26-year-old cabin crew member at a luxury hotel last week. The incident reportedly took place on November 18, after returning from a chartered flight connecting Begumpet in Hyderabad with Puttaparthi in Andhra Pradesh.
As per police reports, the accused, Rohit Saran, checked into the hotel along with a colleague and the victim to relax before their planned return to Puttaparthi. The victim claimed that Rohit lured her to his room under the guise of wanting to smoke. Upon entering, she alleges that he assaulted her against her will.
Once back in Begumpet on November 20, the victim wasted no time in reporting the incident to the airline's management and filed a zero FIR at Begumpet Police Station. Authorities have initiated legal action under Section 63 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, which specifically pertains to the crime of rape.
The case has since been handed over to Halasuru Police Station in Bengaluru for further inquiry. Investigators have stated that the probe is ongoing, although information regarding the suspect's custody and any legal developments remains undisclosed.
This situation has prompted serious concerns about the security of cabin crew members during work-related travel and underscores the urgent requirement for stringent safety measures in chartered flights and hotel protocols.
