The family of the late Zarine Khan, revered wife of actor Sanjay Khan, held a poignant prayer meet in Mumbai. Attended by close family, friends, and numerous Bollywood stars, the event celebrated the life and legacy of a beloved matriarch.
Among those present were luminaries like Jitendra, Salim Khan, Rakesh Roshan, Hrithik Roshan, Saba Azad, Saif Ali Khan, and Fardeen Khan. The atmosphere brimmed with fond memories, nostalgia, and warmth as attendees shared anecdotes highlighting Zarine's generosity and kindness.
Sussanne Khan Overwhelmed with Emotion
Zarine's daughter, renowned interior designer Sussanne Khan, was visibly heartbroken during the ceremony. Surrounded by guests, she shed tears as she viewed photos of her mother showcasing different moments in her life, filled with family and friends.
A variety of priests conducted prayers, symbolizing Zarine’s inclusive spirit. Family members, including her grandchildren, fondly recalled her life lessons and the nurturing warmth she imparted.
Recalling Romantic Memories
Actor and producer Sanjay Khan reflected on his early days with Zarine. “I was 18, and she was just 14 when we first met,” he reminisced. “When I gazed into her beautiful eyes, it felt like seeing the world. I asked her to marry me, and she replied, ‘If I feel the same after a year, I’ll say yes.’ She was not just beautiful but wise, a perfect partner.”
Their journey together spanned decades, with the couple recently celebrating their 59th wedding anniversary in April 2025.
Emotional Tributes from Bollywood Stars
Hrithik Roshan, who was once married to Zarine’s daughter Sussanne, expressed heartfelt sentiments about his former mother-in-law. “It has been an honor to have loved and been loved by you,” he remarked, describing Zarine as having a warmth that reached everyone she met.
Zarine’s son Zayed Khan shared, “My mother was my everything. I will miss her dearly.”
Farah Khan Ali Shares a Loving Memory
Posting a video from the gathering, Zarine’s daughter Farah Khan Ali penned a heartfelt message on social media. “To the world, she was Zarine Sanjay Khan, but to us, she was our mother. She made everyone feel valued and appreciated, regardless of their background,” she wrote.
Farah continued, “Witnessing the love shown for her has been a blessing. My mother inspired us with her generosity and strength. The name Zarine means ‘golden,’ which perfectly describes her—pure gold. We will honor her legacy.”
Remembering Zarine Khan
Zarine Khan passed away on November 7, 2025, at the age of 81. She leaves behind her husband Sanjay Khan, daughters Sussanne, Farah, Simone Arora, and son Zayed Khan. Renowned for her grace and warmth, Zarine played a vital role in her family’s unity and supported Sanjay throughout his extensive film career.
