In an electrifying turn of events during the IPL 2026 mini auction, Kolkata Knight Riders made headlines by securing Cameron Green for a jaw-dropping ₹25.2 crore, making him the highest-paid overseas player in IPL history, eclipsing Mitchell Starc’s previous record of ₹24.75 crore.
The auction was fiercely competitive from the start. While Mumbai Indians kicked off the bidding at Green’s base price of ₹2 crore, they soon pulled back due to financial constraints. Although Rajasthan Royals showed a keen interest, KKR, buoyed by their substantial budget, kept their lead. In a late attempt, Chennai Super Kings tried to outbid KKR at ₹25 crore, but ultimately, the Knight Riders clinched Green at ₹25.2 crore.
Under the new IPL framework, Green will take home ₹18 crore, with the remaining ₹7.2 crore earmarked for player welfare initiatives. A familiar face in the IPL, having played for MI in 2023 and RCB in 2024, this record-breaking price reflects his enduring popularity in the league.
