Chelsea Make €75M Bid for Barcelona’s Fermin Lopez Transfer

Chelsea has made a huge €75 million (£63 million) bid to sign young Barcelona midfielder Fermin Lopez, according to reports from Spain. This move could be part of a double transfer deal from La Liga.

Chelsea already made their first summer signing by bringing in Liam Delap from Ipswich Town for £30m (€36m). He will add depth to the striker position and support Nicolas Jackson up front.

But Chelsea isn’t stopping there. They are also looking to improve other key areas like center back, central midfield, left wing, and goalkeeper as they prepare for both the Club World Cup and next season’s Premier League campaign.

According to the Spanish newspaper Sport, Chelsea are very keen to sign Lopez and have made a strong offer. The 22-year-old had a great season at Barca, with 46 appearances, scoring 8 goals and providing 10 assists.

Although Barcelona needs money due to their financial struggles, they haven’t responded yet. Their new manager, Hansi Flick, sees Lopez as an important part of the club’s future and may not want to lose him.

Lopez’s current contract runs until June 2029 and includes a massive €500m (£421m) release clause. He’s considered one of Barca’s brightest young talents, along with players like Lamine Yamal, Pedri, Gavi, and Pau Cubarsi.

Interestingly, Lopez was also linked with Manchester United recently. Reports suggested that Barca offered Man Utd either Lopez or Ronald Araujo in a swap deal for Marcus Rashford.

Meanwhile, Chelsea also has its eyes on Nico Williams from Athletic Club, another top player from La Liga. Now that Delap has joined, Chelsea is looking for a right-footed left winger, and Williams fits the bill.

They’re ready to pay Williams’ release clause of €58m (£49m), but finalizing personal terms with him could be a challenge.

TEAMtalk also reported that Chelsea wants to complete a triple signing before the Club World Cup. They’ve already reached personal terms with Mike Maignan, who is their top goalkeeper target.

Chelsea is also competing with Liverpool to sign a Dutch center-back, and contact has already been made, according to sources.
