China and Tajikistan Solidify Economic Ties and Support for Taiwan

Post by : Raina Al-Fahim

In a significant visit to Dushanbe, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi met with Tajik officials to explore avenues for expanding trade, investment, and political collaboration. This meeting, held on November 22, 2025, underscored China's pledge to be a dependable partner for Tajikistan.

Wang Yi announced plans to boost imports of premium agricultural goods from Tajikistan and urged more Chinese enterprises to invest in the nation, emphasizing support for its economic development.

The dialogue also addressed political backing, with Wang expressing gratitude towards Tajikistan for its unwavering support on delicate topics, particularly Taiwan. He reiterated China’s firm stance against foreign interference related to Taiwan and voiced disapproval of reviving Japanese militarism, particularly in light of recent comments from the Japanese Prime Minister.

Additionally, Wang stressed the necessity to uphold the international consensus surrounding the one-China principle, which identifies Taiwan as integral to China. He underscored the mutual aim to safeguard the outcomes of World War II while fostering regional stability.

Beyond trade, both nations agreed to enhance their collaboration on mineral resource development in Tajikistan and to bolster security with joint patrols. This collaboration signals the strengthening connectivity between China and Tajikistan across economic, political, and security domains.

Ultimately, Wang Yi's visit has further solidified China’s role as a crucial ally for Tajikistan, aiming for shared prosperity and stability. Both nations committed to a long-lasting partnership that benefits their populations and nurtures peace in the region.
