In a significant development, Delhi Police have apprehended Narottam Prasad, who is accused of murdering his wife 15 years ago and purportedly attempting to cover it up as a suicide. The suspect was located in Gujarat and subsequently brought back to Delhi, where legal proceedings have been set in motion.
This startling case originates from May 31, 2010, when the decomposed body of a 25-year-old woman was found in her residence in Jahangirpuri. Initially, a suicide note was discovered, which misled investigators to suspect that the death was self-inflicted. Early assumptions hinted at the husband, Narottam Prasad, who absconded and was later declared a proclaimed offender. Authorities had even set a reward of Rs 10,000 for insights leading to his capture.
After years of tracking, police received a lead in 2025 that pointed them towards Vadodara in Gujarat. The Delhi Police team quickly acted on the information and located Prasad in Chhota Udaipur, where he had been living incognito while employed as a manager at a cotton factory.
Upon being interrogated, Prasad admitted that marital conflicts escalated shortly after their wedding. In a fit of anger, he killed his wife and forged a suicide note to misdirect the police.
This arrest marks a resolution for one of Delhi’s cold cases, illustrating the unwavering commitment of law enforcement in pursuing justice, even after many years. Officials have stressed that Prasad will now undergo a comprehensive legal process.
This incident underscores the critical role of meticulous investigation and the dedication of police departments in tackling long-standing criminal matters.
