Renowned music composer Devi Sri Prasad, affectionately known as DSP, has showered praise on actress Rashmika Mandanna for her remarkable performance in The Girlfriend. Having contributed to popular albums like Pushpa 2: The Rule and Kuberaa, DSP asserted that Rashmika “merits a national award” for her role in the film.
In a social media post, DSP shared a film poster and expressed, “#TheGirlfriend — A movie I have applauded wholeheartedly! Woww! Rashmikaa… you are not just a ‘national crush’ — you truly deserve a ‘national award’ for your work in The Girlfriend.”
DSP further lauded Rashmika's skill in embodying innocence exceptionally. “After captivating us in films like Pushpa and Animal, how do you so effortlessly radiate that innocence? You have genuinely lived this character. The depth of your expressions is breathtaking,” he noted.
He also commended director Rahul Ravindran for artfully managing a sensitive subject. “Every girl and guy should see this film! Rahul sir, how did you handle such a delicate narrative so brilliantly? Kudos to you and the producers for delivering this beautiful story!”
Furthermore, DSP recognized lead actor Dheekshith Shetty for his strong performance and Anu Emmanuel for her “poised maturity” in the film. He acknowledged the contributions of Hesham Abdul Wahab (music), Krishnakanth Vasant (cinematography), and Chota K Prasad (editing), describing their efforts as “beautiful and impactful.”
Directed by Rahul Ravindran, The Girlfriend features Rashmika Mandanna as Bhooma Devi alongside Dheekshith Shetty in lead roles. This Telugu romantic drama delves into the transformation of a fairy-tale romance into a toxic relationship due to the male lead's aggressive tendencies. Anu Emmanuel, Rao Ramesh, and Rohini also play significant roles.
