Tere Ishk Mein Takes Off with ₹68 Crore Opening Weekend

Post by : Meena Hassan

The romantic drama Tere Ishk Mein, directed by Aanand L Rai and featuring Dhanush and Kriti Sanon, debuted in theatres on November 28 in both Hindi and Tamil. Despite a mix of reviews, the film has made a significant impact at the box office, especially with its Hindi release, attracting large audiences nationwide.

In India, the Hindi version alone earned over ₹50 crore in its opening weekend. The producers celebrated with a poster showcasing Dhanush lounging on a private jet, captioned: “50.95 crore (NBOC in India) Only Hindi.” Dhanush took to social media to share his enthusiasm, exclaiming, “Flying high! Har Har Mahadev.” The Hindi release has outperformed the Tamil version, both at home and in global markets.

The film's journey began with ₹22 crore on Friday, climbing to ₹44.25 crore by Saturday. By the end of Sunday, the net earnings in India reached ₹52 crore—with ₹49.75 crore from the Hindi version and around ₹2.25 crore from the Tamil release. On an international scale, the film accumulated ₹6 crore in its opening weekend, bringing the total global earnings to ₹68 crore. Analysts predict that although weekday revenues might decrease, the film could potentially exceed ₹100 crore in the upcoming weeks if the positive trend continues.

Directed by Aanand L Rai, along with screenplay contributions from Himanshu Sharma and Neeraj Yadav, Tere Ishk Mein delves into the intricate relationship between Shankar (Dhanush) and Mukti (Kriti Sanon). The storyline explores how unresolved emotions and past misunderstandings come to light when the two reconnect years later, crafting a tale rich in romance, regret, and the hope of second chances.

With audiences praising the performances, music, and Rai’s hallmark emotional depth, the film has kicked off to a solid box office turnout. Despite the varying critiques, viewers have notably admired the chemistry between Dhanush and Kriti Sanon, which has been a driving force behind its commercial appeal.
