Dhofar Exhibition Shows Rare Animals, Plants and Nature Wonders

Post by : Mariam Al-Faris

Today, a new exhibition called “Dhofar: A Natural History Wonder” was opened at the Museum of the Frankincense Land in Salalah, Oman. This exhibition is special because it shows many interesting things about the natural world of Dhofar. It includes animals, plants, and sea life that live in this area. People who visit the museum can learn a lot about the nature of Dhofar and why it is important to protect it.

Who Organized the Exhibition?

This exhibition is organized by the Ministry of Heritage and Tourism of Oman. They worked together with the Natural History Museum in Muscat and the Museum of the Frankincense Land in Dhofar Governorate. These groups wanted to share the beauty and importance of Dhofar’s nature with everyone. By working together, they made sure the exhibition has good information and exciting displays for visitors.

Official Opening and Dates

The exhibition was opened under the supervision of Dr. Abdullah Ali Al Amri. He is the Chairman of the Environment Agency in Oman. The exhibition will be open to visitors until the 31st of August. This means people have almost a whole month to visit, learn, and enjoy what the exhibition offers.

What Visitors Will See

The exhibition shows the natural environment of Dhofar, both in the mountains and in the sea. Dhofar is special because it has many different kinds of rare animals that are not found easily in other places. The exhibition displays these animals to help people understand how special Dhofar’s wildlife is.

Visitors will also see many types of plants that grow in the different areas of Dhofar. These plants help keep the environment healthy and support the animals living there. The exhibition gives people a chance to see and learn about these plants up close.

Scientific Collection on Dhofar’s Natural History

Along with the animals and plants, the exhibition also has a scientific collection about the natural history of Dhofar. This means it shows how nature in Dhofar has changed over many years. It includes information from research done by scientists to help everyone understand more about the environment.

This scientific information helps students, researchers, and visitors learn why it is important to protect nature for the future. It also shows how Dhofar’s nature connects with the larger world.

Purpose of the Exhibition

Usama Mohammed Al Rowas is the Director of the Museum of the Frankincense Land. He explained that the Ministry of Heritage and Tourism started this exhibition to raise awareness about protecting the environment. When people know more about nature and how fragile it can be, they can help take better care of it.

The exhibition also teaches visitors why saving natural resources, like water and forests, is important. It offers a place for fun and learning at the same time, welcoming people of all ages to enjoy and understand the environment.

Exhibition During the Khareef Season

The exhibition is spread across different halls inside the Museum. This is helpful because it allows many visitors to see everything comfortably. The timing is also perfect because it happens during the Khareef season. Khareef is the monsoon season in Dhofar, when many tourists visit because of the cool weather and green landscapes.

Having the exhibition open during Khareef means more people can visit and enjoy learning about Dhofar’s natural beauty. This also supports local tourism and helps people appreciate the governorate’s unique environment.

Helping Dhofar Become a Top Tourist Place

One goal of this exhibition is to make Dhofar a famous place for tourists worldwide. By showing the rare animals, plants, and beautiful nature, it helps attract visitors from inside Oman and from other countries.

Tourism is important for the economy of Dhofar. When more people visit, local businesses like hotels, restaurants, and shops also benefit. The exhibition plays a role in this by giving tourists an interesting and educational experience that they will remember.

Supporting Omani Identity and Nature Heritage

The exhibition does more than just show nature. It also helps support Omani identity by telling the story of the local natural heritage. It shows how Oman’s environment is unique and valuable, helping people feel proud of their country’s natural gifts.

The exhibition also encourages scientific research. By working with universities and community groups, the Museum helps create more opportunities to study and protect nature. This cooperation helps make sure Dhofar’s natural environment will be cared for in the future.

Education for All Ages

This exhibition is designed for everyone, no matter how old they are. Children, students, adults, and elderly visitors can all find interesting things to learn. There are displays that explain things simply and clearly, so visitors can enjoy and understand the information easily.

By educating many people, the exhibition hopes to build a community that cares about the environment and works to protect it. Learning about nature can inspire people to take actions that keep Dhofar’s wildlife and plants safe.

A Chance to Learn and Protect Nature

The “Dhofar: A Natural History Wonder” exhibition is a wonderful chance for people to learn about the special natural world in Dhofar. It shows the rare animals, plants, and sea life that make this area unique.

The exhibition also helps visitors understand why protecting the environment is important. It supports tourism, education, scientific research, and Oman’s natural heritage.

By visiting this exhibition, people can enjoy a fun, interesting, and educational experience that helps keep Dhofar’s nature safe for future generations.
