Ranveer’s Dhurandhar Records Powerful Worldwide Day 1 Start

Ranveer Singh’s new film Dhurandhar has taken a powerful start at the worldwide box office, becoming the biggest opening of his career. The spy drama surprised trade experts by delivering stronger numbers than expected. In India, the film collected ₹27 crore net and ₹32.40 crore gross on its first day. Most industry predictions had estimated an opening between ₹18–20 crore, but strong word of mouth helped the film cross the ₹25 crore mark by the end of the day. There were also some unconfirmed reports about figure manipulation through block bookings, but nothing has been officially proven.

Internationally, the film also performed well, earning $850,000 on release day. With this, Dhurandhar reached an impressive ₹40 crore worldwide on Day 1. The film is expected to cross ₹100 crore by Sunday, and it may even do so by Saturday if the momentum continues. This strong start provides the film with a solid base for long-term success in theatres.

With this performance, Dhurandhar has become Ranveer Singh’s best opening film, beating his earlier hit Padmaavat, which earned just over ₹37 crore on Day 1 in 2018. It also surpassed major releases like Saiyaara, which made ₹29.40 crore worldwide on its opening day. However, it could not cross the opening day collection of Chhaava, which earned ₹47.40 crore.

Directed by Aditya Dhar, Dhurandhar is a spy thriller set in Pakistan in the early 2000s. Ranveer plays an Indian agent working to dismantle dangerous Lyari gangs. The film is inspired by real events and features a strong supporting cast including Sanjay Dutt, Akshaye Khanna, Arjun Rampal, and R. Madhavan. With positive audience response and rapid growth in international markets, the film is now expected to continue its strong run through the weekend.
