Dhurandhar's Advance Ticket Sales Surge as Release Date Approaches

Post by : Meena Hassan

As the release date nears, Ranveer Singh’s Dhurandhar is causing quite a stir in the box office arena. Advance ticket sales began on Monday for its opening weekend across 2,000 shows, with additional screenings being added due to heightened demand. The initial hours saw a flurry of ticket purchases, although the momentum slowed somewhat in the evening.

The film garnered over ₹1 crore in pre-sales just within a few hours of opening bookings. By Tuesday afternoon, the total had reached approximately ₹1.4 crore for the first day, with estimates suggesting weekend earnings could surpass ₹2 crore. Notably, this surge is occurring even with increased ticket prices, averaging ₹310 for regular and IMAX screenings. Premium showings, such as those at INOX Maison in Mumbai priced at ₹1,620, have already sold out for Friday, while cities like Gurgaon report swift sales of tickets above ₹1,500.

While industry experts view these advance bookings as a positive sign, they warn of intense competition from major action and spy films released earlier this year. Ranveer's prior success, Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani, achieved nearly ₹4 crore in pre-sales this year. Analysts suggest that while Dhurandhar has strong potential, reaching the ₹10 crore milestone in advance ticket sales might be a difficult feat.

Directed by Aditya Dhar, Dhurandhar showcases Ranveer Singh as an undercover Indian spy infiltrating the gangs of Lyari, Pakistan. The plot is inspired by real historical events and features notable figures from Pakistan's contemporary history. The stellar cast includes Arjun Rampal, Sanjay Dutt, R. Madhavan, Akshaye Khanna, and Sara Arjun. Dhurandhar is slated for theatrical release on December 5.
