Dubai Airports has welcomed the winter season with an impressive travel network, integrating numerous airlines and new routes at both Dubai International (DXB) and Dubai World Central (DWC).
Direct flights are thriving at DXB, comprising 55% of total passenger volume. This seasonal increase results from cooler temperatures, international business engagements, cultural events, and holiday migration, coupled with the city's allure as a favored destination for global travelers.
Significant Growth from Europe and Central Asia
European destinations are showing remarkable growth this winter. FlyArystan has introduced bi-weekly flights from Aktau in Kazakhstan, while Austrian Airlines has resumed services five times a week from Vienna. Major airlines like Virgin Atlantic and British Airways are ramping up services on vital routes, reflecting strong confidence in European travel.
Robust Regional Connections
The regions of South Asia and the Middle East are crucial to this travel landscape. Varesh Airline has begun operations from Sari, Iran, while Fly Jinnah has initiated services from Lahore, indicating strong point-to-point connections. Saudi Arabia remains DXB's second-largest market, with 6.3 million passengers contributing to both DXB and DWC, DWC registering an astonishing 459% growth this season.
Dubai World Central's Expanding Role
DWC is increasingly complementing DXB by providing airlines with expanded capacity and meeting rising demand from CIS, GCC, and European markets. In the first ten months, passenger numbers soared to 1.1 million, underscoring its strategic significance within Dubai's aviation framework. Cargo and aircraft movements at DWC are also escalating, marking a continuous upward trend.
The winter schedule illustrates airlines' confidence in Dubai's varied travel landscape, reinforcing the city’s standing as a leading global aviation hub. With increased flights and enhanced connectivity, Dubai Airports are prepared to fulfill growing passenger demands during the festive period.
