Dubai is adding three well-known international universities to its higher education options for the 2025/26 academic year.
The Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA) announced that the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Ahmedabad from India, the American University of Beirut, and Fakeeh College for Medical Sciences will open new campuses in Dubai.
With its lively nightlife, great weather, and many top universities opening branches here, Dubai is becoming a very attractive place for students.
Right now, Dubai has 41 private higher education institutions. Out of these, 37 are international campuses offering a wide variety of courses to meet students’ needs.
The IIM Ahmedabad is famous for its business and management programs and is ranked 27th globally by QS World University Rankings. The American University of Beirut is ranked 237th overall.
Other well-known universities like The University of Manchester, University of Birmingham, and Curtin University already have campuses in Dubai.
Dubai aims to become one of the world’s top 10 global cities. The city plans to have international students make up 50% of all higher education students by 2033.
Last year, there was a 20% rise in total student enrolment and a 29% increase in international students in Dubai’s higher education institutions.
Currently, 42,026 students are enrolled across 41 private universities and colleges in Dubai — the highest number so far.
Dr. Wafi Dawood, CEO of KHDA’s Strategic Development Sector, explained the city’s future plans through the Education 33 strategy.
He said, “This plan supports Dubai’s economic and social goals. We want to make Dubai’s graduates more competitive globally, increase education tourism by ten times by 2033, bring more Emiratis into the workforce, and help double Dubai’s economy in the next ten years. Our goal is for Dubai to become one of the top three economic centers in the world.”
