Cameron and Cayden Boozer celebrated Thanksgiving in a special way, enjoying the game and family memories. Their father, Carlos Boozer, a former NBA player, watched proudly as his sons took to the court at the United Center, a place full of personal memories from his time with the Chicago Bulls.
The twin brothers were part of Duke’s strong recruiting class, joining coach Jon Scheyer’s team. While Cayden is still adapting to college basketball, Cameron has quickly become a key player for the Blue Devils. Against No. 22 Arkansas, Cameron put on a spectacular performance, scoring 35 points and grabbing nine rebounds, helping Duke secure an 80-71 victory.
Cameron was highly efficient, making 13 of 18 shots from the field and seven of 11 from the free-throw line. He stepped up at critical moments, including a three-pointer that capped a 10-0 run late in the first half, giving Duke a 32-22 lead. His father, Carlos, cheered enthusiastically from the stands as his son shined.
When Arkansas took the lead in the second half, Cameron responded by converting a key three-point play and making several free throws, pushing Duke ahead 77-69 with just over a minute remaining. Coach Jon Scheyer praised Cameron’s leadership, saying he “put the team on his back” and helped them learn how to handle intense game situations.
Cameron’s performance has been consistent this season, averaging 22.9 points and 9.8 rebounds per game. He also leads the team with 31 assists while maintaining only 10 turnovers. Meanwhile, his twin brother Cayden played limited minutes against Arkansas and did not score, but he contributes significantly in assists and team play.
The Thanksgiving game held extra significance as the Boozer family reflected on their shared experiences. Cameron said that the best advice from his father was to enjoy the moments and make the most of his time with the team. He emphasized that college basketball is a unique period that goes by quickly, making each game and celebration, like Thanksgiving, special.
Fans and basketball enthusiasts witnessed Cameron’s remarkable skill, athleticism, and composure under pressure. His ability to perform in clutch moments and his energy on the court reflect his potential as a future star in college basketball. The Blue Devils, now 8-0 this season, continue to impress under Coach Scheyer, with Cameron leading their scoring and contributing in multiple facets of the game.
Carlos Boozer, who also played college basketball at Duke, expressed pride in his sons and highlighted the importance of enjoying the game and family experiences. The combination of basketball, family, and Thanksgiving created a memorable day for the Boozer family, as Cameron and Cayden balanced personal celebration with outstanding athletic performance.
With Cameron’s standout game and Duke’s undefeated start, the Blue Devils are gaining momentum as a strong contender this season. Both Cameron and Cayden are embracing the challenges of college basketball, while also cherishing the special moments that come with playing together at a high level.
