Post by : Mariam Al-Faris

Mexican comedy star Eduardo Manzano has passed away at the age of 87, leaving fans across Mexico and Latin America heartbroken. The news was shared by his son, Lalo Manzano, on December 4 through an emotional Instagram post, paying tribute to his father’s remarkable life and career. Lalo described Eduardo as a comedian loved by thousands and a kind, intelligent human being who touched everyone around him. He added that behind every joke was a hardworking artist, and behind every smile was a father who taught his children to stay positive even in difficult times. His message ended with gratitude, saying, “Thank you, my beautiful dad, for every lesson and for making our lives your masterpiece. Rest in peace.”

Born on July 18, 1938, Eduardo Manzano became one of Mexico’s most famous comedians and entertainers. He rose to fame as part of the comedy duo Los Polivoces, created with Enrique Cuenca. Their show was immensely popular on Mexican television in the 1960s and 1970s, and the duo created many memorable characters, including Gordolfo Gelatino, La Crema y Nata, El Hoja-Lata, Los Hermanos Lelos, and Don Teofilito. These characters helped shape Mexican humor and are still remembered fondly today.

Apart from television, Eduardo appeared in numerous films, such as The Popcorn Chronicles (2014), One for the Road (2014), La hija de Moctezuma (2014), and provided a voice in the animated movie Marcianos vs. Mexicanos (2018). In recent years, he gained popularity with the hit TV show Una familia de diez, which introduced him to younger audiences and proved that his comedy appeals to all ages.

Fans, colleagues, and the entertainment industry have expressed their condolences, celebrating Eduardo Manzano as a cultural icon whose contributions to comedy and entertainment will be remembered for generations. His legacy continues to inspire aspiring actors and comedians in Mexico and beyond. The world mourns the loss of one of the most cherished figures in Spanish-language entertainment, leaving behind a rich legacy of laughter and joy.
