Fortis Doctor Recommends Quick Breakfast Tip for Healthy Weight Loss

Post by : Saif Al-Najjar

Dr. Shubham Vatsya, a prominent gastroenterologist at Fortis Vasant Kunj Hospital in Delhi, has unveiled a practical weight loss strategy for those eager to shed pounds healthily. His recent recommendation emphasizes the benefits of incorporating chia or basil seeds into the morning meal for a consistent 30-day period to effectively manage hunger and weight.

The doctor highlighted the common issue of rapid post-breakfast hunger, which often leads to unhealthy snacking and increased calorie intake throughout the day, complicating weight loss efforts. Chia and basil seeds stand out as ideal solutions to combat this challenge.

Rich in fiber, these seeds promote satiety, helping individuals stay full longer and prevent overeating later. Not only that, but they are also packed with probiotics that bolster healthy digestion and gut health—factors that are pivotal in weight management and nutrient absorption.

Dr. Vatsya pointed out that particularly, chia seeds can significantly reduce daily caloric intake by helping regulate appetite and minimizing unnecessary cravings. He recommends integrating these seeds into breakfast for 30 days to witness tangible results.

A simple method involves soaking 1–2 tablespoons of chia or basil seeds in water overnight, then consuming the mixture in the morning. They can easily be incorporated into yogurt, smoothies, fruit bowls, coconut water, or warm lemon water, fitting seamlessly into any individual's routine.

Dr. Vatsya underscores breakfast's critical role in determining the day’s energy levels and metabolic rate. A nutritious breakfast can enhance calorie burn and promote sustained activity, while poor choices—like sugary cereals and fried items—may escalate hunger and fat accumulation.

This straightforward advice is accessible to everyone, as it doesn’t require pricey foods or stringent diets, just the simple habit of adding seeds to breakfast and ensuring adequate hydration, as these seeds expand in the stomach when hydrated.

Experts recommend pairing this habit with a balanced diet, moderate exercise, adequate sleep, and stress management for optimal weight loss outcomes. This suggestion is particularly beneficial for students, professionals, homemakers, and seniors, as it is gentle on the digestive system and promotes a natural approach to weight management without harsh dieting.
