Kuwait and Egypt are working together to create a joint technical committee that will help manage the recruitment of skilled Egyptian workers. This step aims to meet Kuwait’s labor market needs while making sure all rules and standards are followed, according to Egypt’s State Information Service.
The announcement was made after a meeting between Egypt’s Ambassador to Kuwait, Osama Shaltout, and Marzouq Dhaifallah Al-Otaibi, the Acting Director General of Kuwait’s Public Authority of Manpower (PAM). The meeting took place at PAM’s headquarters in Kuwait City.
The new committee will include members from Egypt’s Ministry of Labor. It will focus on making sure the workers being sent to Kuwait have the right skills needed in different job sectors.
This move comes after Kuwait stopped issuing new work visas to Egyptians in April 2024. The decision was made to ensure better control over the recruitment process and to give priority to applicants with higher education and skills that match Kuwait’s job market needs. At that time, reports said some employers had raised concerns, which led to the policy change.
Although the visa ban is still active, this new step shows that both countries are trying to find a better and more organized way to allow skilled Egyptian workers to return to Kuwait—but with stricter rules and proper checks.
During the meeting, Ambassador Shaltout thanked Kuwaiti officials for the support and services given to Egyptian workers. He also praised PAM’s work to improve labor cooperation between the two countries. “We are happy with the continued efforts to protect workers’ rights and support the progress of both nations,” he said.
PAM welcomed Egypt’s proposal and said it shows a shared commitment to strengthen the strong historical relationship between the two countries. Both sides agreed to keep communicating closely to make the plan successful and confirmed that the plan benefits both Egypt and Kuwait.
