Elon Musk Celebrates Historic Pay Package with Optimus Robot

Post by : Raina Al-Fahim

In Austin, Texas, Tesla's annual general meeting became a memorable event as CEO Elon Musk celebrated the approval of his exceptional pay package nearing $1 trillion over the next ten years. The highlight was Musk dancing with Tesla's humanoid robot, Optimus, symbolizing the integral role of robotics in the company’s vision for the future.

The approval garnered significant backing from shareholders, despite some dissenting voices, including Norway’s sovereign wealth fund. Tesla's board deemed it essential, suggesting Musk might leave if not endorsed.

“Unlike other dull shareholder meetings, ours is a vibrant affair! Just look at this action!” Musk exclaimed, pointing at Optimus as it imitated his moves. He also emphasized the transformative aspirations of the company, stating, “We’re embarking on an era that transcends traditional vehicles by embracing robotics and AI.”

Under the ambitious new plan, Musk aims for Tesla to produce 20 million vehicles, operate 1 million robotaxis, and sell 1 million humanoid robots while striving for a core profit of $400 billion. His multifaceted pay package is linked to Tesla's stock price, requiring an escalation from $1.5 trillion to $8.5 trillion for full benefits.

This nearly $1 trillion compensation—chiefly in Tesla stock—aligns Musk’s interests with long-term shareholder success, involving multiple performance benchmarks over the next decade. Investors are hopeful that this plan will alleviate tensions regarding Musk's potential distractions from other projects like SpaceX and his AI startup xAI.

The dance with Optimus epitomized more than just a celebration; it highlighted Tesla’s strategic direction towards AI and robotics. Musk anticipates that Optimus will be equipped to manage tasks such as manufacturing, deliveries, and personal assistance in the near future, which could revolutionize Tesla's operational methodologies.

As Musk continues to innovate and redefine corporate aspirations, the global community remains keenly interested in both Tesla's upcoming vehicles and its advancements in robotics and AI, seeking to revolutionize various industries.
