Emirates has reached a major milestone after customers made more than one million connections to its Starlink-powered inflight Wi-Fi service within just seven months of its introduction. The achievement highlights the growing demand for fast and reliable internet connectivity during air travel.
Passengers have already used more than one petabyte of data through the Starlink service. According to Emirates, customer feedback has been highly positive, with many travellers describing the onboard Wi-Fi experience as being "better than at home."
More than 60 Emirates flights equipped with Starlink now operate every day. The high-speed internet service allows passengers to stream videos, join video calls, browse social media, play online games, and stay connected with family, friends, and colleagues throughout their journey.
The airline said the one million connection milestone reflects the rapid adoption of its next-generation inflight connectivity. At present, Starlink is available on 33 Boeing 777 aircraft and three Airbus A380 aircraft, while installation work continues across the airline's fleet. Additional aircraft equipped with the service are entering operation every week.
Emirates has been an early leader in onboard internet services. The airline was among the first commercial carriers to introduce internet access on the Airbus A380, where its first-generation system provided less than 1 Mbps of total aircraft bandwidth.
The airline's existing inflight Wi-Fi service already allows passengers on most flights to access messaging apps, email, web browsing, and social media. Emirates continues to provide complimentary Wi-Fi access to all of its customers.
With the introduction of Starlink, Emirates has significantly increased onboard internet performance. Starlink-equipped Airbus A380 aircraft can now deliver more than 2 Gbps of combined bandwidth, allowing passengers across all cabin classes to enjoy complimentary high-speed internet suitable for live video calls and streaming while flying at 40,000 feet.

After successfully rolling out Starlink across its Boeing 777 fleet, Emirates has also expanded the service to the Airbus A380. As the world's largest passenger aircraft, the A380 has been fitted with three Starlink antennas designed specifically to support its double-deck layout and accommodate its large number of passengers.
The upgraded system provides stronger coverage, increased capacity, and improved performance across every cabin class. Emirates also plans to introduce Live TV streaming directly through its award-winning inflight entertainment system, ice. Passengers can already access streaming services using their personal devices while connected to Starlink.
To speed up the rollout across its fleet, Emirates has started installing Starlink systems at its Emirates Engineering facilities in Dubai. This move is expected to accelerate the introduction of next-generation connectivity on additional aircraft.
So far, Starlink installation has been completed on 33 Boeing 777 aircraft and three Airbus A380 aircraft. Emirates said it remains committed to expanding complimentary ultra-fast Wi-Fi to as many passengers as possible in the shortest possible time.
The introduction of Starlink on the Airbus A380 is part of Emirates' wider investment in improving the passenger experience throughout every stage of travel.
Alongside one of the aviation industry's largest fleet retrofit programmes, the airline continues to introduce new features that improve passenger comfort, expand travel choices, and strengthen onboard connectivity for millions of travellers around the world.
To date, Emirates has completed full cabin refurbishments on 128 aircraft. The upgrades include the introduction of Premium Economy cabins, refreshed Business and First Class products, upgraded Economy cabins, and enhanced inflight entertainment systems featuring more than 6,500 channels of content.
